Rose Bowl 2012: Wisconsin's New Uniforms Give Oregon Ducks a Run for Their Money

Eric BowmanDec 30, 2011

On Thursday, Nike unveiled the new uniforms that the Oregon Ducks will use in the 2012 Rose Bowl, and today, Adidas revealed what the Wisconsin Badgers will be wearing.

Not only are these teams doing battle on the gridiron, but two of the top sports apparel companies are also going head-to-head in the Rose Bowl.

As you can see below, courtesy of CNBC's Darren Rovell, the Badgers are keeping it simple.

The sleek all-white look paired with the red stripes and red and white gloves is a solid look.

However, it's the Badgers' helmet that really steals the show.

A rose pattern in the W is a fantastic idea by Adidas. You know the Badgers' players are going to want to take those home.

Of course, it all depends on the outcome of the game. Wisconsin was in the Rose Bowl last year, but they fell to TCU in an upset. That's extra motivation for them to succeed this time around, but the Ducks will certainly have their say.

The wings are obviously for effect, but the gloves are awesome. Here's another photo of what Nike was going for with the wings:

The shoulder pads have the cool design, and thankfully, Nike didn't go overkill with an ugly yellow or lime green color.

So, which uniform is the best?

I'd say Oregon wins, but Wisconsin is very close. Both are stylish and will definitely excite the players that will be wearing them.

As for the game itself, it could go either way, but I like Wisconsin to get revenge for losing out on the uniform battle. Obviously, that's not going to be the reason the Badgers strive to win, but you get my point.

With so many skilled players on the field, fans can expect a high-scoring affair. Darron Thomas and LaMichael James will shine for the Ducks, and Russell Wilson and Montee Ball will dominate for the Badgers.

Defense will be needed, but both offenses will be tough to stop. James and Ball should amount for most of the success on offense with several big plays.

Whichever team can create more turnovers and score off of that will win. A stellar defensive performance would be surprising and would certainly give that team a much better shot at winning.

It's going to be a good game, but in the end, Wilson will be the difference-maker. He's proven he can win in the clutch, and that's why the Badgers will get the victory.
