WWE: Why John Cena Will Turn on Zack Ryder on Monday Night Raw
It started long before Zack Ryder even got his feet wet in the WWE, but the steps taken to ensure that John Cena has begun his heel turn will go through the new United States Heavyweight Champion.
And yes, this makes perfect sense.
While Cena took a step back at Tables, Ladders and Chairs, where CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Ryder stole the show with their title wins, it will be Cena who will have the last laugh.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Cena has been caught in the battle with Kane since the Big Red Machine returned three weeks ago, which leads me to believe the dark side is not too far off from the man that wants to "Rise Above the Hate."
And the best way to truly begin his reign as a heel is to start with Zack Ryder and continue it in full force against the Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Ryder seems the logical "jobber" for this. He is the independent, much like Cena, who rose to the top, who got support from Cena in his quest for WWE gold, and then may have passed him in popularity.
Could the jealousy angle come into play? Could Cena use the "I was there for you and you don't appreciate what I have done for you," angle? Could he use the "You fans turned on me" angle? Or maybe he takes the Bobby Roode approach and thinks it is a "Me Generation."
Whatever the approach, while CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Ryder all seem to have the fans standing on their feet in arenas across the country, and wrestlers like Roddy Piper, the Rock and Kane are trying to get more emotion out of "Frooty Pebbles," Cena's best bet is to finally find the dark side and do what young Skywalker did not do in Star Wars (I love it when I can reference Star Wars and wrestling).
It also means that while Ryder may get the push he needs instead of this "love interest" angle with Eve Torres, he and Cena feud, which gives him more heat, and unlike Alex Riley and the Miz, it gets better ratings.
Punk and Dolph Ziggler will be feuding in January. The Miz and R-Truth will be battling as well. Cena and Ryder should do the same.
I am not sure where Kane is in all this, but I do know that come time for the Royal Rumble, there could be three very "hot" matches we all will want to see.
