WWE: Why CM Punk Should Be Given a Chance to Get Ratings
For lack of a better word, why can't the WWE stop screwing with what works and stick with CM Punk as the lead dog in wrestling?
It appears the company is pulling a "Charlie Brown" and trying other methods of earning ratings; there is a conception that Phil Brooks cannot sell and make the WWE as popular an entity as, say, John Cena or The Rock.
First off, how can you compare the current WWE Champion to the others? Each wrestler asked to carry "the torch" has provided different qualities that make them a marketing jewel.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
According to a story on WrestlingInc.com, WWE officials are considering taking the title away from CM Punk due to the low ratings his segments have been drawing on RAW.
According to the report, there was talk of having Punk drop the title at last Sunday's TLC pay-per-view, but the idea was ultimately nixed.
Punk's popularity is what draws people in. He is "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and a little Chris Jericho all rolled into one. He is Steve Austin in theory, and he is the only thing that people remain true to right now in the WWE.
While fans are split on whether Cena is a heel or a face and split on whether they like him or not (much the way people loved Hulk Hogan and still booed him), Punk is the undisputed top draw in the company right now.
There have been many wrestlers who were champions and were asked to do the unthinkable thing—"draw ratings" or make money as the sole responsible party. Ric Flair and Hogan could draw and got ratings. Savage could get ratings. Shawn Michaels could draw ratings.
Sting could not draw ratings, but was a popular multi-time winner. The Rock and Steve Austin could draw, but they were not the same wrestlers as Hogan or Flair.
Ratings are a tricky thing; fans change their minds from day to day. Punk may at some point lose the title, and some other character will be asked to carry the load (personally, I think The Miz would draw more than Dolph Ziggler). However, it is not known yet if they could do what Punk has done and change the course of wrestling this season.
Punk needs to be given a chance here. A few months does not make a bad decision. While the idea to have Punk drop his title at the PPV was nixed, injuries, character change and time mean there is always a chance we will see something like this happen within a moment's notice.
Punk is still young. He can be a better draw than Sting, Kurt Angle, JBL, Kane and every wrestler on the roster right now.
The WWE needs to give him a few more chances before they decide to pull the plug on something good.
