UFC 141: Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem and 5 Ways This Fight Could End
Tonight, the fight we've all been waiting for finally happens, as former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will be facing off against former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.
This is easily the most anticipated fight of the year, and fans are absolutely torn on who will pull out the win.
Here are five ways that we could—potentially—see this legendary fight end.
Alistair Overeem by Knockout
1 of 5As Lesnar has said, he's never been knocked out cold.
He's also never fought someone with the striking lethality of Overeem.
Shane Carwin has the power, but Overeem has the power, technique and variety of strikes to be the first to knock Lesnar out cold.
Brock Lesnar by TKO
2 of 5Anybody who's picking Lesnar to win this fight, is picking him to win by TKO.
Lesnar's best bet to win this fight is to get Overeem down on the ground, and do what he does best—ground and pound.
A couple big shots from Lesnar, and that could be it for Overeem.
Alistair Overeem by TKO
3 of 5However, if Overeem can't knock Lesnar out cold, I'm sure that Overeem would be happy with a TKO victory.
Carwin almost beat Lesnar by TKO, Cain Velasquez did, and Alistair Overeem could be the next to add his name to that list.
Brock Lesnar by KO
4 of 5Although you may not know it, Alistair Overeem doesn't exactly have an "iron chin."
Overeem has been knocked out—straight knocked out—six times in his career, by fighters such as Sergei Kharitonov, Shogun Rua, Little Nog and Chuck Liddell.
Certainly not names to scoff at, but for someone who relies on his striking to win fights, six KO losses are a big deal.
If Lesnar could land a big shot, he certainly has a chance at scoring the knockout.
Alistair Overeem by Submission
5 of 5Overeem is known as an outstanding kickboxer, but he also has some nasty submissions on his side, as he has 19 of his 35 victories coming by some form of submission.
Should Lesnar gas out, or leave himself vulnerable, he could get caught in something.
Or, if he shoots, he needs to watch out for the guillotine from Overeem.
No matter how it ends, this is going to be a fight for the ages.
