2011 Bowl Predictions: Stanford and Frauds That Will Be Exposed

Andrew KulhaDec 29, 2011

Stanford, Florida and Arkansas are all frauds, and they will be exposed this 2011 bowl season.

I'm not saying that they're bad teams. That's not the definition of fraud that I am going with.

Obviously, they have to be pretty good to even be considered for these bowls. They come across as good programs, but they will be exposed in these bowl games.

Oklahoma State will beat Stanford, Ohio State will dominate Florida and Arkansas is going to get run over by Kansas.

Let's break it down.

Stanford vs. Oklahoma State, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

Oklahoma State would be in the national championship if it wasn't for one horrible loss.

The Cowboys saw their perfect season go down the tube at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones, so many believe Andrew Luck and the Cardinal will be able to do the same.

Luck had a great season and finished the year with 3,170 yards, 35 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Cardinal averaged 480.9 yards per game. However, when compared to the 557 yards per game the Cowboys put up, that doesn't look so good.

Stanford's defense is going to have a hard time keeping up with a Cowboys offense that was second in the nation in passing yards with 386.3 yards per game and points with 49.3 per game.

Luck also has to go up against corner Brodrick Brown, who totaled five interceptions this season, and defensive end Jamie Blatnick, who accumulated 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

In the end, The Cowboys have the advantage and will expose the Cardinal.

Ohio State vs. Florida, Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl

Isn't there a part of you that wants to see Florida smack down the Buckeyes just to get one final jab at them before the man that led their program to two national titles takes the sideline?

I have a feeling that even though Urban Meyer isn't coaching this game, he's going to play a big role in it.

That being said, the Buckeyes have a clear advantage in this game.

Florida has lost six of its last eight games, including a 21-7 smack-down at the hands of in-state rival Florida State. They will also be without offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, who accepted the head coaching job at Kansas. This is bad news for a team that only passed for 190.2 yards per game.

Senior quarterback John Brantley has had an injury riddled season and has thrown only 10 touchdowns compared to six interceptions. He was supposed to be a bright spot on this team, but instead he is a liability.

While they did rush for 144 yards per game, the Buckeyes have them beat there at an average of 195.7 themselves.

Overall, the Buckeyes have much more going for them coming into this game and I believe that will be rather evident.

Kansas State vs. Arkansas, AT&T Cotton Bowl

The Arkansas Razorbacks' only two losses came at the hands of current No. 2 Alabama and No. 1 LSU, both who are meeting in the BCS championship game. Their resume is pretty good.

That being said, I just don't see them being able to contain the Wildcats and their prolific quarterback Collin Klein.

Klein passed for 1,745 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions this season, which may not sound good. However, when combined with the 1,099 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns he put up on the ground, the numbers start to look a lot better.

Arkansas will also suffer from the same problem as Florida—losing coaches. They lost their offensive and special teams coordinators to other head-coaching positions, while their defensive coordinator resigned.

When all is said and done, the Wildcats offense—led by Klein—will have a clear advantage and will expose the Razorbacks.
