UFC 141 Fight Card: Why the UFC Needs Brock Lesnar to Win Against Overeem

UFC 141 is just a day away and the excitement is quickly building as the long-awaited return of Brock Lesnar is just moments away.

With all the excitement building and a new year on it's way, this fight is more important than ever for the UFC and Lesnar alike.

Here are eight reasons why the UFC needs Lesnar to prevail in this fight. 

Bring Back the Pay-Per-View Ratings

With the UFC's pay-per-view numbers declining recently, it would be huge for the UFC to get a good fight with a Lesnar victory in this one. 

Although Alistair Overeem might be just as talented as Lesnar, he just doesn't have the name or notoriety of the former WWE superstar and UFC fan favorite Lesnar. 

It's a New Year

This is the last fight of 2011 and it's just as important as any of the title fights. A lot of people remember the last things to happen in a year, and an exciting victory by Lesnar would propel the UFC to the next level in 2012.

With so many innovations being made in the UFC, including the FOX contract, this fight is going to be very important. 

UFC Needs to Show He Is Healthy

There have been many reports about whether or not Lesnar would ever fight again. A win here would solidify that he would not only fight, but he would be competing with the top in the world. 

Lesnar Fighting Equals Publicity

A win here would bring a lot of publicity to the UFC. Even ESPN covers UFC when Lesnar fights as he is one of the most popular athletes in the world.

It is going to be important for a Lesnar win here to draw an even bigger crowd to the sport and the organization. 

Bring Back the Buzz to the Sport

Sure, there are a lot of hardcore UFC fans out there, and there always will be, but no one can argue that the sport has dropped off in the past few months.

With the cancellation of a few anticipated fights, the UFC has fallen a bit in the minds of American sports fans. 

A win by Lesnar would have the nation and Internet buzzing. 

Open Up Lesnar to Other Opportunities

A win here for Lesnar would not only open up his career in the UFC, but it would also help him in other business ventures which the UFC can benefit from.

Surely a victory by Lesnar will draw attention from late-night television shows, just more free publicity for the UFC. 

He has turned into such a favorite, a win will just propel him further. 

Gets the Wrestling Fans Involved Again

Sadly, a lot of wrestling fans are so into professional wrestling, that they still follow Lesnar and will tune in just to see him fight in this.

A win here would make them tune in again and allow for their dream of him returning to the ring at least somewhat possible. 

A Title Fight

This is what a lot of casual UFC fans are wanting, but many of the true fans know what really is right on this, but a title fight would definitely be in the works if he wins this match.

This is basically a No. 1 contender's match for the title, and having Lesnar in another championship fight would be great to see for the UFC executives and their checkbooks.
