Tim Tebow: America Rightfully Prefers Broncos QB to Jersey Shore Cast

Eric BallDec 28, 2011

Why is Tim Tebow and the Jersey Shore mentioned in the same sentence?

What in the world could the “Mile High Messiah” have in common with a couple of gorilla juice-heads and guidettes?

Well, nothing really, but both were involved with the latest Zillow poll that asked the following question:

What celebrity would you like to live next to?

Guess who came in first place?

The one and only Tebow won with 11 percent of the votes. It makes sense. A quiet man that will never have his music too loud or steal your newspaper is always an ideal neighbor.

He’s the guy you ask when you need a cup of sugar. You could ask him to watch your dogs for a few days and I’m sure that would be his top priority—well, aside from beating his old teammate Kyle Orton to vault his Denver Broncos into the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

It’s interesting to note that the 24-year-old was more popular with males (14 percent) than females (seven percent). Celebrity couples Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux received 10 percent and nine percent of the vote, respectively.

As for the worst neighbor?

For the second year in a row, it’s the cast of the Jersey Shore. Their late-night drunk antics and blatant disregard for anything and everything decent has scared off America. The crew received a whopping 28 percent of the votes. Charlie Sheen (21 percent) came in second.

If you asked the Jersey Shore cast to watch your dog, it would be fed nothing but beef jerky and Gatorade while allowing Sparky to go to the bathroom all over your house. It may even have a tan when you return.

If this survey tells us nothing else, it’s that the fascination with famous people is completely random. You can be like Tebow (a religious freak that is redefining the term “quarterback”), and we like you. Or you can be like Snooki, and we watch you and somehow grow to like you in a sort of "can’t take my eyes off a train wreck" sort of way.

Regardless of how you feel about both entities, Tebow and the Jersey Shore are two of the biggest pop-culture stories in 2011.
