NFL Week 17 Picks: Predicting Road Teams with Best Shots at Victory

Chris TrapassoDec 28, 2011

Kyle Orton and the Kansas City Chiefs can end Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos' magical run at the AFC West title with a win in the Mile High City this weekend.

There are a few other clubs jostling for playoff positioning in the season finale, while others will look to build momentum for next season.

As pumped as I am for the postseason, it's always a sad day when the regular season comes to an end.

Let's look at the teams with the best chances to finish the year with a solid road victory.

San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams

Obviously.

The 49ers defense should totally dominate the Rams' putrid and non-threatening offensive attack that averages 11.1 points per game.

Frank Gore should have his way with the St. Louis defense, a unit that surrenders more than 150 yards on the ground per contest at 4.9 yards per attempt.

This game should be a blowout and San Francisco's 13th win of the year.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns

Another elite team with a terrorizing defense facing an offensively deficient team.

It doesn't matter if Ben Roethlisberger plays or not. Pittsburgh is far more talented on both sides of the football and running back Rashard Mendenhall is coming off one of his best rushing performances of the season last week.

He averaged 6.4 yards per carry and scored a touchdown against the Rams.

The Browns aren't much better at stopping the ground game.

Cleveland's opponents have averaged 146 rushing yards per contest in 2011.

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

Suddenly, the Broncos don't seem to be quite the formidable opponent. Tim Tebow's shortcomings were exposed against the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Eve and the defense was shredded by running back C.J. Spiller. Von Miller was non existent.

Kyle Orton has the Chiefs playing much better offensively and the defense has always been respectable.

He'd love to get back at his former club and they certainly match up well with Denver.
