UFC News: Jon Jones Responds to Chael Sonnen's "Call Out"
MMA's favorite bad boy, UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen, returned to TSN's Off the Record with Michael Landsberg on Dec. 23.
To the surprise of no one, he had a lot of interesting things to say.
Without rehashing the whole interview, Sonnen said that he considers reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva "old product" and would much rather have a title fight with several other champions.
Specifically, Uncle Chael said he'd rather square off with UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, UFC light heavyweight title-holder Jon Jones and recently crowned heavyweight king Junior dos Santos.
Sonnen has never fought at welterweight or heavyweight before, so it's probably just as well that both GSP and JDS did not respond to Sonnen's latest antics.
However, the former two-time Division I All-American wrestler has competed at light heavyweight before, a fact that did not seems to slip by Jon "Bones" Jones.
Just a couple of hours after Sonnen's second interview with Landsberg aired, Jones tweeted:
""Someone tell Chael he knows where I'll be waiting"
"
Odds are, Sonnen has no plans to move up to light heavyweight and is still 100 percent interested in a rematch with his hated rival Silva, but it will be interesting to see if the Team Quest standout has a follow up comment for Jones.
Although Jones tweeted his response five days ago, it is worth nothing that Sonnen is not a regular twitter user. He has sent out just five tweets since Nov. 20, three of which were an MMA themed Christmas song.
Therefore, a response by Sonnen in the next week or two is still a very real possibility.
