Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets NFL Week 5 Live Updates, Highlights and Analysis

The Cleveland Browns are trying to do something on Sunday that the team hasn't accomplished since the last time they made the playoffs in 2023โ€”win four consecutive games.

As it happens, that fourth straight win a few years back came against the New York Jets.

The Browns aren't piling up the style points, but they are doing what it takes to winโ€”especially in the fourth quarter. But notching a fourth straight victory won't be easyโ€”in addition to facing a Jets team that has shown some fight despite a 1-3 record, the remnants of Hurricane Isaias have created less-than-ideal conditions at Met Life Stadium.

It promises to be a wet, wild and wacky afternoonโ€”and Bleacher Report will be along for the ride. Keep it here for highlights, commentary and everything else you need to know about Cleveland's Week 5 trip to the Big Apple.

Big Uglies Eating

The Browns are getting all kinds of push up the middle--three sacks in the first half.

Jets 7, Browns 6

A nifty third-down play from Deshaun Watson keeps the drive alive, a near-miss to Isaiah Bond is just that and Andre Szmyt hits from 41 yards out.

Browns trail by a point.

ICYMI

Because the ending of Cowboys vs. Ravens in Brazil wasn't bonkers enough.

What is it with international games, special teams gaffes and game-winning kicks?

Have a day, Maliek Collins!

Sack Alert!

The Browns pass rush is short on big names--and short-handed with defensive tackles Mason Graham and Mike Hall both sidelined by ankle injuries.

But Maliek Collins got home anyway, forcing a three-and-out on New York's second drive.

Jets 7, Browns 3

The good news is that the Browns answered the Jets touchdown with a 12-play, 67-yard drive.

The bad news is said drive stalled out inside the 10-yard line, forcing Cleveland to settle for Andre Szmyt's 23rd consecutive made field goal.

Scary Hit for WR KC Concepcion

Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have both been as advertised for the Browns as rookies. But there was a scary moment for the latter Sunday.

While trying to make a catch in the red zone, Concepcion took a vicious shot (which drew a flag) from Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The youngster walked off the field under his own power, but he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Jets 7, Browns 0

Dear Cleveland Defense,

Garrett Wilson is a very good wide receiver.

You might want to cover him.

Wilson already has three catches for 70 yards, the Jets drove the field with ease and just like that it's 7-0.

Atrocious start for the Browns on both sides of the ball.

Ugly Three and Out

Browns Buccaneers Football

One carry for negative-four yards, a couple of screens and a whole lot of nothing leads to a punt.

Not exactly the start the Browns were looking for.

Nervous? Me?

This a game the Browns should win. A game they need to win if they want to be taken seriously in the AFC North.

Run the ball. Play disciplined defensively. And maybe try something kooky like not committing 37 penalties.

Take The Under

It has rained most of the morning. It is expected to continue raining during most of the game, with 15 MPH winds and the occasional gust.

The Browns finally got Quinshon Judkins going a little last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Jets entered Week 5 25th in the league in run defense.

Run.

The.

Ball.
