Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn Live Press Conference Highlights and Updates

Dana White finished his remarks, suggested all the questions were finished, and said the fighters would face off.

But they made him wait a bit first.

Instead, Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn left from opposite sides of the stage and Garcia emptied his pockets of the eggs he'd carried in, and they came back four minutes later, going jaw to jaw after the co-main fighters – Jai Opetaia and Noel Mikaelian – had a brief faceoff.

Garcia continued to chat toward Benn as White stood between then. Benn held an index finger to his mouth in a shushing gesture. But it never got physically contentious and both men were off the stage less than three minutes after arriving.

Dana White made a big splash when he added boxing to his already burgeoning UFC workload. But it's because he enjoys it.

"I like it even more (now)," he said. "I had very low expectations coming into the business. To be a part of this fight on arguably the biggest weekend in boxing, I've had a blast. This has been fun."

Ryan Garcia has said all week he didn't think Conor Benn would hit 147 pounds.

But when asked directly, he changed his tune on Thursday.

"It'll be close," Garcia said. "But I'm sure he will."

Garcia has said he could fight as heavy as 160. But not right away.

"I don't really like to think too far ahead," Garcia said. "I'm very comfortable at 147. I'm going to be here a long time. Hopefully, I can kick Devin Haney's a** again."

Garcia is making his first WBC title defense and his third appearance at the weight.

Teofimo Lopez made himself a dramatic entrance.

As soon as Ryan Garcia suggested he needed to beat Lopez to be the "face of boxing," Lopez popped out of a disguise and instantly replied with, "I'm here mother f**kers."

Conor Benn said he's got no issues making 147 pounds on Friday.

But he's also said he'll never fight at the weight again.

Not surprisingly, Ryan Garcia seized on it.

"He's setting up excuses. 'I'm going to 168.'" Garcia said. "This is a title shot at 147. Even if he makes the weight, his brain can't rehydrate fast enough."

Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn were immediately lashing out.

Benn has suggested Garcia isn't a true Mexican as it relates to boxing.

Garcia, not surprisingly, replied.

"Come Saturday night when the blood is spilling out of his mouth," Garcia said, "he'll know how Mexican I am."

The fighters are on the stage.

Breathlessly billed as "two of the most exciting fighters on planet earth," Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia strolled to the stage from opposite ends – with Benn wearing a set of Everlast overalls and Garcia looking studious in a warm-up jacket and dark-rimmed glasses.

Zuffa champ Jai Opetaia and challenger Noel Mikaelian were first on the stage in advance of Saturday's secondary bout.

Garcia dismissed a claim that he was unprofessional for missing Tuesday's planned face-off meeting, saying "I did what I wanted to do."

Benn said, "I don't care what he does."

Jai Opetaia is in the building in Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old Australian is widely considered the best 200-pound fighter in the world, but he ditched his sanctioning body title belts to claim superiority as Zuffa Boxing's inaugural cruiserweight champion in March.

Conor Benn has a quiet moment with UFC czar and Zuffa Boxing boss Dana White.

Benn was one of the new promotion's first high-profile signings earlier this year.

Conor Benn hasn't fought at or below 147 pounds since 2022.

He'll be required to hit the number at Friday's weigh-in. And he's 15-0 with 10 KOs as a pro at 147 pounds or less.

But he's already on record saying it'll probably be the last time he does so.
