Shea Weber and 17 Other Awesome Hockey Trick-Shot Videos

Kevin GoffDec 25, 2011

When you've got it, flaunt it.

The players in the NHL have some serious talent, and they love to flaunt it with some pretty amazing trick shots.

It's always better for all of us when people manage to catch them flaunting their stuff on video to share it with the rest.

Here are some of the best trick shots from the best of the NHL.

Shea Weber from Way Downtown

1 of 18

Shea Weber can bring it from anywhere, even from the arena stands all the way across the ice.  This is something like a 350 foot shot, over the glass, without hitting the jumbo-tron, into the net.

It's also reminiscent of a popular NHL awards sketch with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf.

Upper Deck Goal

2 of 18

Similar to Shea's, but from an angle.

Is that harder, or simpler because he appears to be at only the blue line as opposed to the farthest opposite length you can be?

Either way, impressive.

Malik Dangles in a Shootout

3 of 18

This is a popular move that a lot of hockey guys are able to do, but when you're 6'6" and 238 pounds you usually don't do too much of this.

I love the announcers comments about how he isn't a noted goal scorer and that he hadn't scored a goal all year just before he drops this one.

He also popped the water bottle.

Filthy.

Crosby Setting the Net

4 of 18

The perfect combination of power and precision.  Not only does he move the net, he sets it perfectly into place.

There's really not much that can be said about this. We'll see more from Sid later.

Michigan Magic

5 of 18

This was the first time I had ever seen anything like this done in a game. I absolutely couldn't believe my eyes and it still amazes me that this was done during the game itself.

What amazing hands.

Now You See It, Now You Don't

6 of 18

Lots of guys like to do the little between their legs shot, but not too many can pull of this beauty.

The goalie doesn't even know what to do with it.

The Hand-Eye Coordination of Ovechkin

7 of 18

This is one of Ovechkin's favorite show tricks and for good reason.

The type of coordination required to do this is just amazing.

Andreas Athanasiou Reasearch and Development Awesomeness

8 of 18

The one to pay attention to is the first one that he does.

Through his legs, chips it up to himself and he knocks it top-shelf out of mid-air.

I think we need the genie again.

Look Ma', One Hand!

This is Nino Niederreiter at the CHL Skills Competition.

It's hard enough for a lot of guys to elevate the puck like that with both hands on the backhand. He just did it with one.

Sweet.

Ryan Strome Shows His Hands

10 of 18

If there was ever a time when a hockey player could actually dribble between their legs, it was in this instance.

Talk about a way to make a good impact on the team that just drafted you.

The Pyramid Trick

11 of 18

There is debate as to whether or not this trick is real, but it looks pretty good to me.

It's possible that this has been edited, but until that is proven, this one is going to stay on my list.

Goalie's Turn

12 of 18

The one that I'm most impressed with is the lacrosse style spin shot done with all the goalie gear on.

It's one thing to do it with the normal stick, but with a goalie stick and the blocker and catching glove still on? Impressive.

Alex Kovalev Is Good at Hockey

13 of 18

You want a great trick shot, how about a slapper from back in your own zone top shelf?

Alex Kovalev has a great collection of tricks in this video.

Too much awesomeness to even describe, but it definitely made my jaw drop, again.

Robbie Schremp

14 of 18

It takes about 34 seconds to get into the shootout here, but it is worth the wait.

The first move is enough to make anybody excited, but just continue to watch this guy's amazing hands.

Tomas Jurco

15 of 18

This kid can just plain handle the puck in every sense that the phrase can be considered.

The one that gets me in this sequence of video is his second shot. Balancing the puck on his blade, flipping it and catching the puck on the thin shaft, then switching back before shooting.

All you can say is, wow. Then you can also watch some of his stick-handling tricks.

The genie weighs in on this one, too.

Matthew Campagna One-Handed Lacrosse

16 of 18

Lots of guys like to do this lacrosse style play where they get the puck up on their stick from the ice, but not too many of the guys are able to do the whole sequence with one hand.

Only thing that would make it better is if he had scored.

Hope College Publicity Tricks

17 of 18

Some of these are pretty neat, but the one I want you to look at starts at the 2:55 mark.

Puck sitting on the back of the net, he hits the net to flip the puck, catches it on his stick, and flings it lacrosse style the distance of the ice into the opposite goal.

Wow.

The Great One for Some Fun

18 of 18

Just for fun, I thought I'd throw in a fun spoof video of Wayne Gretzky showing everybody what it means to truly be a trick shot artist.

Gotta love The Great One.
