Week 16 NFL Picks: Predicting QBs Who Will Have Their Teams Flying High
With all the ridiculously awesome quarterback play we've been lucky enough to witness during the 2011 NFL season, predicting which signal-callers will lead their teams to victory has become rather easy.
No, seriously.
What we have labeled as "impressive" performances are turned in by a handful of quarterbacks each week.
Let's take a look at which QB's will have their teams flying high in Week 16.
Matthew Stafford
1 of 3Over this last three games, (two wins and one loss) Matthew Stafford has thrown seven touchdowns with one interceptions and has averaged 342 yards passing.
Talk about a guy on a tear.
That's how Stafford goes. He'll look almost like a bust, making late throws that are forced into triple-coverage because of the confidence he has in his arm.
Then he'll look like the best young quarterback in the league, and you'll think the Lions can score a touchdown on every possession.
He gets an average San Diego Chargers secondary at home on Ford Field this week, and I don't envision his hot streak ending with a postseason berth on the line.
Drew Brees
2 of 3You think Matthew Stafford's three-game stretch was eye-opening?
How about Drew Brees' "little" tear?
He's thrown for at least 322 yards in each of his last five games and has 16 touchdown passes with no interceptions over that span.
Wow.
Just, wow.
He's got 20 touchdown passes and only three interceptions at home, and we all know how energized his offense is in the Superdome in prime time.
Brees has the divisional nemesis Falcons this week, but I don't care who he's playing, I've got my money on him having another monster game.
Kyle Orton
3 of 3I wanted to step out of the box a little bit. Sure, Drew Brees is going to light it up.
What kind of analyst would I be if I picked him, Brady and Rodgers as the best quarterbacks each week?
I do like Orton against the Raiders at home in a must-win game.
He was extremely efficient against the Packers in their stunning upset, and we all saw what Matthew Stafford did to Oakland's secondary last week.
While Orton certainly doesn't have a playmaker like Calvin Johnson streaking downfield, he does has decent receiving weapons and can utilize the play-action pass to his advantage.
Expect another solid outing from the former Broncos and Bears starter.
(Why didn't Todd Haley start him immediately?)
