WWE News: Latest on Possibility of CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 28

If you’re a WWE fan, you know you’ve talked about the possible dream matchup of CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 28. It’s likely crossed your mind at least once.

Once those cryptic “It Begins” videos started airing, you probably thought to yourself, “I bet it’s Jericho, and he returns for a feud with Punk.” 

The setup is obviously perfect for that to happen, but no one seems to know for sure if it actually will. That being said, here is the very latest on Punk and whether Jericho will be his Wrestlemania opponent.

As for current WWE champion CM Punk, the latest news on his WrestleMania opponent is that he’ll be wrestling Chris Jericho, who is expected to return in early 2012. While all indications have been that Jericho will be returning on Jan. 2, there’s a strong chance WWE will try to throw off all the online reports and have somebody else be the person behind the cryptic promos we’ve been seeing on RAW in recent weeks.

I absolutely cannot wait for Jan. 2 to come and for all the hype and speculation regarding Jericho’s return to come to a halt. 

I like Jericho just as much as the next guy and obviously think there’s a chance he’ll debut early in 2012, but based on his responses to any questions about the WWE as of late, I’m taking a “believe it and I’ll see it” approach with him. 

Jericho is going to return if he wants to return, and he’s not going to return if he doesn’t want to. That’s the bottom line. 

Would I love for him to come back and provide a huge lift to the WWE? Absolutely. 

Would I love to see him and Punk tear the house down at Wrestlemania 28? You’re damn right I would. 

However, until I see the best in the world at what he does walk into a WWE ring and come face-to-face with the best wrestler in the world, I’m not going to believe that it’s going to happen.
