WWE News: Shawn Michaels to Referee Triple H vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28?

Shawn Michaels competed against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25 and 26, and those two legends put on two of the best matches in WWE history. 

Once HBK retired after the second bout, it was his real-life best friend Triple H who stepped up to try to end Undertaker’s undefeated streak. What's more, Michaels found himself getting involved in the build to that match, which took place at Wrestlemania 27 earlier this year. 

What was surprising to some, however, was that HBK didn’t have even more involvement in the actual match.

With that being said, that might change if Taker and Triple H meet again at Wrestlemania 28, as is expected.

Shawn Michaels is scheduled to be the special referee for the Undertaker vs. Triple H match at WrestleMania. Since Triple H and Shawn Michaels have both failed twice at ending the streak, it lends something to the idea that they could work together to screw Undertaker. 

Triple H might put his career on the line against the streak. The Undertaker vs. Triple H match will be promoted as the #2 match on the card, behind Cena vs. Rock.

I might be in the minority, but I’m not a fan of this at all.

Michaels’ involvement would have worked for me last year, but here we are—two years after Undertaker faced HBK at Wrestlemania—and the WWE is still using that as the basis of one of the top feuds at the biggest pay-per-view of the year. 

I just find that to be lazy booking. 

Yes, a Triple H vs. Undertaker feud with HBK involved makes sense. However, we saw the same exact match last year. We also saw the whole “Career vs. Streak” thing with Michaels back in 2010. We don’t need to have another match like that because it makes the outcome incredibly predictable. 

Everyone knows “The Streak” isn’t coming to an end. While the WWE will tease that HBK and Triple H are going to work together to screw over Undertaker, what’s that going to accomplish? Is Triple H going to finish his career by looking like a cowardly heel? 

There will undoubtedly be interest in another match between Undertaker and Triple H, but there are more losers than there are winners here. 

Taker and Triple H won’t be able to top last year’s match. Younger talent will get pushed to the side in favor of two 40-plus-year-old veterans and we’ll see a match that we already saw just one year ago.
