Peter Crouch: Burglaries Becoming a Disturbing Trend Among English Footballers
Peter Crouch's £4.5 million mansion in Cheshire was robbed on Tuesday, prolonging a disturbing trend in England of footballer's homes being burglarized.
Crouch is currently playing with Stoke City in the English Premier League.
Crouch and wife Abbey Clancy, a model, returned home and discovered the house was a mess, and items taken included a laptop, a watch and some rings.

This is not the first time Crouch or the area he lives in has been robbed. Back in 2006, Crouch's home in Alderley Edge was robbed, and an Aston Martin car was one of the items take in the theft. Burglaries are tough to deal with, because some things aren't replaceable.
At that time, Crouch was just one of several footballers that fell victim to home burglaries. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and England forward Emile Heskey's homes were also burglarized during that time.
All these burglaries have really caused a problem for footballers. With the astounding amounts of money they make, these players have to be more aware of the possibility of being robbed.
Crouch's home that got robbed on Wednesday is located in an area that many footballers and other athletes have lived. Wayne Rooney and his wife Colleen live just yards from Crouch. Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand also lives in the area.
You can only do so much about purchasing security systems and all that, but the issue of burglaries really should be looked at more closely by the police forces. This isn't the first time it has happened in Crouch's area over the years, and several other footballers have had issues as well.
I'm not sure why burglary is such a problem in England, but the local authorities must do something to keep the homes of these players and everyone in the area much safer from these crimes.
