NBA Trade Rumors: Why the Orlando Magic Are Dumb to Drag out Dwight Howard Trade

Kelly ScalettaDec 22, 2011

The Orlando Magic are insisting that there is hope that their star center, Dwight Howard, has more of a chance of remaining in Orlando than a snowball. Perhaps they need to consult Kris Humphries on the matter of how one-sided love affairs work out in the long run.

Otis Smith told NBATV last night, "When we get there we'll discuss it."

Otis, you're there.

The only reason that Dwight Howard hasn't been traded yet is because you're not willing to accept that. Even former CEO Bob "Drunk Dial" Vander Weide read the writing on the wall.

Yeah, I know, D12 is confused. So was Kim Kardashian. In the end, the heart wants what it wants. More importantly, it can't be made to want what it doesn't want.

No matter how much they try to woo him, Orlando just can't win. There's a beautiful, supermodel point guard in New Jersey, while all the Magic have to offer is that "5" known as Jameer Nelson.

Even his name makes you think of less, like "half-nelson."

You have to know when you're not wanted. You have to know how to bow out gracefully so that you don't get booed when you step on the court at Madison Square Garden, despite the fact you didn't do anything but get dumped.

Don't be Cleveland. Don't be "that team" that doesn't know when to let go, until all you have to hang your hat on is a tear-soaked empty jersey with the number 12 on it.

No, sir. It's time to suck it up and pull a "N'Oleans." Steel yourself, Otis. There's no time for imagining here. Things are getting worse, not better. New Jersey's now gone and signed up—well—Kris Humphries. That means that they can't swallow Hedo Turkoglu's contract anymore and you have to content yourself with unloading Chris Duhon's less preposterous contract on them.

If you don't make a deal soon, Otis, you're gong to be on your own reality show called SportsCenter in a special segment on out-of-work GMs. You need to stop the daydream. Howard doesn't love you!
