Georgia Football: 10 Presents the Bulldogs Hope to Find Under the Tree
With Christmas right around the corner, gift cards, iPads, clothes and video games are flying off the shelves.
Many players on the Georgia Bulldogs roster will get things like that on Christmas Day, but as a team, they really want to win their bowl game and be in position to win big in 2012.
But there are also some other things the Bulldogs would like to have for Christmas because when it comes to college football, more is always better.
Here's a list of the 10 things the Bulldogs would like under the tree.
An Outback Bowl Win
1 of 10It may not be the bowl game they aimed for before the season, but it's the first time since 2008 the Bulldogs are playing a in a bowl game in January.
Michigan State is a lot like the Bulldogs. The Spartans are 10-3, they have a very good quarterback in Kirk Cousins and they have a top-10 defense.
It should be a very good game, but the Bulldogs should win if they play their game and limit the mistakes.
Orson Charles Returns for His Senior Season
2 of 10Orson Charles is the best tight end in the SEC, and if he decides to stay for his senior season, it would be a huge boost for the Bulldogs as they try to win the SEC title.
Charles had his best season in 2011 with career highs in receptions and yards. He was named to the All-SEC team as well as the All-America team by numerous media outlets.
It's tough to say what he's going to do because he has a chance to make a lot of money in the NFL. But the fans want him to come back because they feel he has a chance to help the Bulldogs do some big things next year.
A Healthy Isaiah Crowell
3 of 10The running back position is tough because the running backs take a lot of hits, which leads to higher chances of being injured.
Isaiah Crowell was always getting beaten up, and as a result, he could not finish games, which would make the running game non-existent for the Bulldogs.
If Crowell is healthy for the 2012 season and learns how to fight through the injuries, the running game will be much better than what it was in 2011.
Signing of Keith Marshall
4 of 10The Bulldogs already got Keith Marshall to commit, but he will not be officially a Bulldog until he signs on the dotted line in February.
Marshall is considered as the best running back prospect in the country and has gotten offers from every major Division I school.
This could be a very good thing for both Marshall and Crowell, because competition can and will bring out the best in both of them.
NCAA Getting off Mark Richt's Back
5 of 10If you haven't heard, Mark Richt is under fire because he paid three of his staff members out his own pocket because he felt the school did not compensate them as well as they should.
So, Richt is under fire for doing what he felt was the right thing?
Here's a question for you: Is there any sports organization that's a bigger Scrooge than the NCAA?
One More Year for Bacarri Rambo
6 of 10Bacarri Rambo had one of the best seasons of any safety in the country, and it would make sense for him to enter the NFL Draft.
But if the Bulldogs want to achieve bigger and better things next season, having Rambo back would be huge.
At the end of the day, Rambo has to do what's best for him. If he goes to the NFL, the Bulldog Nation will wish him well. However, if he does decides to stay for his senior season, I think the fans won't have a problem with that.
Contract Extension for Todd Grantham
7 of 10After having a so-so 2010 season, the defense made tremendous strides in 2011, ranking in the top five nationally in total defense.
This was possible because Todd Grantham got his players in the right positions to make plays in the 3-4 scheme. So it would make sense for the university to give him an extension, especially when he has one more year remaining on his three-year contact.
Contract Extension for Mark Richt
8 of 10This is likely to happen in the very near future because Richt has done everything the fans wanted this season except winning the SEC title.
Richt has only two years left on his current deal, so the negotiations are in progress. If everything goes right, the university will add another three or four years to his deal, and unless something drastic happens, Richt should end his coaching career in Athens.
Another Win Against Florida
9 of 10Even though the Florida Gators are down and have a long way to get back on top, it was good to see the Bulldogs get a win over them because it does not happen a lot.
That's why it would be better if the Bulldogs got another win over the Gators in 2012, which would be the first time since the 1980s the Bulldogs have won consecutive games against their rivals.
Could it happen? Yes, but there is something about playing in Jacksonville that gives the Bulldogs fits.
A Win Against South Carolina
10 of 10Normally, the Bulldogs did not have too many issues when it came to beating South Carolina. But the last two years have been a different story, as the Gamecocks have had the Bulldogs' number.
When they play next year, it should be a interesting game, because both teams will come into the game as the two favorites to win the SEC East.
Every game in the SEC is a must-win, but the Bulldogs have to find a way to get past the Gamecocks if they want to win the SEC, as well as have a shot to win a national title.
