WWE TLC 2011 Results: What's Next for Alberto Del Rio and The Miz after loss?
He did it!
Despite being handcuffed twice, CM Punk is still your WWE Champion after defeating Alberto Del Rio and The Miz in a TLC match tonight.
Make no mistake about, the guy is on a roll and the pipe bombs will continue in the foreseeable future. That's good news for straightedge fans everywhere.
Where does that leave his fallen challengers?
Both Alberto Del Rio and The Miz performed very well in the match. There were close calls many times but their victory was not meant to be, for now.
For one, the buck stops here it seems while for the other, a new chapter opens up. The new year should be his best one yet.
Who goes where?
Adios Alberto, Your Time in the Spotlight Is over
1 of 4Alberto Del Rio had an amazing year in 2011.
He began by being one of the most promising Superstars on Smackdown. He won the Royal Rumble, the Money in the Bank and two WWE championships.
Unfortunately, his destiny came with a price and his loss at WrestleMania XXVII against Edge is where he began losing his heat.
I cannot, for the life of me, enjoy his character anymore. I absolutely believed in him in the beginning but now I just want him to go away for a while. His gimmick is saturated and I don't care what kind of car he'll come in with tomorrow on RAW.
I don't think anyone else does either.
Send him back to the mid card for a while just so the company can figure out what to do with him. Returning to Smackdown on Friday nights could help him very well too. It did work for Wade Barrett and Mark Henry right?
As it stands right now, I don't even think he's going to be on the WrestleMania XXVIII card on April 1st.
Where would you put him honestly? Not in any title match, not against Undertaker and the Streak either.
See what I mean?
The Miz Feuding with CM Punk Is Far from over
2 of 4I've said it before in another piece, tonight's match served to get Del Rio out and further develop Miz vs. Punk.
Now it will all unfold as I have planned, much to my delight.
The Miz vs. CM Punk will be a great feud. Adding the title in the mix can only serve to elevate these two performers even higher as both are cemented into the WWE's future.
Like it or not, I speak the truth.
I cannot say for sure this is what will be but next month at the Royal Rumble, your main event for the WWE championship will feature the Awesome One taking on the Best in the World.
A side note...January 2nd 2012 and "It Begins" will have happened. What will the fallout of that be you think and how will it play out here?
The Miz Will Win the Royal Rumble This Time
3 of 4This has been my prediction for over a year, even before The Miz won the WWE championship from Randy Orton.
I am a great fan yes but I also try to imagine where a few scenarios can lead to and this has a few, nice outcomes which would spell great news for the most must-see WWE Superstar in history.
First scenario:
- The Miz wins the Rumble, faces the WWE Champion at WrestleMania XXVIII and regains his championship.
He has a little streak of his own going on and I don't see him losing at the big event yet. Dark matches do not count folks and so he is 2-0 at Mania.
With The Rock vs. Cena and Undertaker' streak on the line this year, the title match will not close the show so you can easily fit this in anywhere.
Second scenario:
The Miz wins the Rumble but somehow doesn't make it to the title match because a more career-cementing moment must happen.
He will take on someone great like Mick Foley and be put over so his future can continue and/or turn face in the process.
I like this idea very much. It would give us one more Foley match and help The Miz in the process. A Win-Win situation.
Third scenario:
The Miz doesn't win the Rumble this year but still manages to end up in a high-profile match at Mania.
Mick Foley and the face turn can still happen here. It seems quite feasible actually.
What ever the scenario, look for the chick magnet to have an even better year in 2012.
CM Punk Was Right...
4 of 4...the WWE championship scene is meaningful again!
This was a good match tonight with two of my favorites closing the show.
It's unfortunate for Del Rio but that's pretty much where it's headed for him. For CM Punk and The Miz though, the next few weeks will be crucial.
They must give us the best work they have ever done both in the ring and on the mic. The WWE Universe has been crying out for something like this for a long time and with Christmas and New Year's around the corner, it is the perfect time for making a wish.
Take the time to enjoy it when it happens folks, it's not every day we get a treat like this.
