WWE TLC 2011 Results: Zack Ryder's Claim of US Title Good for WWE
If the WWE needs any proof that building up a match can be rewarding, Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler was that proof on Sunday night.
In the Tables, Ladders and Chairs showdown, Ryder defeated Ziggler for the U.S. title in thrilling fashion, further accentuated by an emotional moment with his father, independent wrestler "The Big-O," at ringside after the match.
Forget that the match itself was an outstanding kickoff for the event, complete with a come-from-behind victory for Ryder when Ziggler's manager, Vickie Guerrero, was ejected by the ref.

This match was important because it marked what the WWE should be doing all along, building up a fight instead of charging into it like a raging bull. If it wanted, the WWE could make so much more of what it has, but it oftentimes sacrifices a natural acceleration to the title for shock value in about three shows' time.
It's matches like this that make WWE fans hope for better things to come, when the WWE has disappointed so many times throughout the years.
The WWE needs to realize that you don't have to draw fans by packing every intriguing matchup into one event. The anticipation of a fight is just as intriguing as the fight itself, especially when you have the characters this organization has.
This may mark a shift in the WWE's thinking. Instead of creating upsets for shock value, maybe the organization is instead thinking about creating lasting champions.
Look back at the olden days of wrestling. There were some true giants of the sport that could single-handedly carry wrestling.
Where have these giants gone?
Hopefully, they are about to emerge and Ryder becomes a piece to the puzzle.
