WWE TLC 2011: What's Next for CM Punk If He Beats The Miz & Alberto Del Rio?

Giulio RomanoDec 18, 2011

The last event of the year is right around the corner!

Only a few hours remain until we see WWE Champion CM Punk put his title up for grabs against former champions Alberto Del Rio and The Miz in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, which should prove to be quite interesting.

For the first time in oh so long, John Cena is absent from the championship scene and thus provides a great chance for all three participants to shine beyond recognition.

CM Punk has been on a roll since his apparent re-signing with the company back in July. He has perhaps become the current most popular Superstar and allowed for WWE to start getting out of its torpor it has long been suffering from over the last few years.

It's not every day we get an exciting character like him, and tonight should finally set all the critics straight as to why he is the one of the best in the world.

Being the self-professed "best" has its price, however, and should he win, what would lie ahead for him as the WWE Champion as one year ends and another begins?

Let's not forget...after tonight, the Road to WrestleMania begins and with it comes the most spectacular time of the new year.

The Miz and CM Punk Will Finally Meet for the Title at the Royal Rumble

Yes, my pets!

Tonight's match serves only to get Alberto Del Rio OUT of the title scene for now in order to start the focus on the real program ahead: CM Punk vs. The Miz for the WWE Championship.

It is a dream-come-true scenario for Mizfits and Punk fans everywhere, as the two great loudmouths will be able to showcase their mic skills all the rest of 2012 right up to the Royal Rumble, where their super-match will take place.

CM Punk has been critical of The Miz's skills from time to time and if done properly, the company would have a great opportunity to exploit the new, more vicious persona Miz has been demonstrating via some sort of Grudge match between the two next month.

It is now the perfect moment for them to get all their fans rallied up and on top of that, for the ultimate prize in all of pro wrestling: the WWE championship.

Getting to and Winning the Elimination Chamber Match Is a Top Priority

The new year is never an easy time for champions in WWE.

Everyone wants to be part of WrestleMania. It is the Show of Shows, the event of the year and a perfect place to start your own legacy.

Elimination Chamber 2012 hopefully should have a WWE Championship Chamber match and if CM Punk is champion by then, his priority would be to win or else there will be no big payday.

How long has it been since the title holder walked in and retained on that fateful night?

There won't be a MITB cash-in this time, so all bets are off.

CM Punk is such a hot commodity right now and if he can come out of there still holding the gold, he would make his already-spectacular stock reach for the stars.

If he wins, it means only one thing...

CM Punk Will Main-Event the Most Magnificent Extravaganza of 2012

3 of 5

That must be one of the most wished-for things to happen in the minds of the WWE Universe.

WWE Champion CM Punk will take some of the heat of the John Cena-The Rock match and hopefully deliver one of the most stellar performances of his career.

He simply has to, and in doing so it would make him the number one guy in the company. Can you imagine sticking it to the People's Champion and all of Cenation?

We all have our wish list as to who may be the one he could contend with. The Miz, Dolph Ziggler...even Wade Barrett if he wins the Rumble. These are great picks, but it seems like something is brewing in the minds of WWE Creative and it should all come to light in two weeks.

I am referring to this...

"It Begins" Could Signal the One and Only Perfect Opponent for CM Punk

4 of 5

The mysterious promos have been playing for quite some time now, and it is almost January 2nd, 2012!

Yes, this columnist has heard the rumors singling former Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho, but he stated on many occasions that a return to the company just isn't in the plans right now.

Could he be lying?

I know CM Punk has been using the moniker "Best In The World," which is really close to what Jericho loved to yell out back in the day (he is the best in the world at what he does).

Is that what the promos allude to when it states this "person" will reclaim what is rightfully his?

We have only two weeks to wait until the moment is upon us.

The Undertaker is also missing in action and the "she" referred to here could very well be his wife and former Women's Champion, Michelle McCool.

Right now, the WWE absolutely needs all the help it can get, and a return of such prominent Superstars would definitely restore some lost luster.

However, everything here is pure speculation, but whether it be Punk vs. Jericho for the title or Punk vs. Taker (streak for title), it would spell out one thing: the perfect WrestleMania main event.

It is the holiday season...time for some wishes to come true.

It Is a Matter of Time Until the WWE Championship Match

The show has already started, so it is time for me to pay attention.

Look for CM Punk to be at the very height of his career over the next few months. He is already one of the company's top sellers and Superstars, plus holding the championship firmly in hand makes him number one.

The momentum is all his...let's see if he can keep rolling with the ball.

Everyone needs a little Tee Elle Cee.
