WWE TLC 2011: Man Up or Shut Up, Miz; You Need to Win the WWE Title!

Tony DolemiteDec 18, 2011

Be careful what you wish for. Just ask the Miz; he got what he wanted, didn't he?

Well, not necessarily. He is getting a shot at the WWE Heavyweight Championship, that's the good thing. Of course, not only will he have to go through the champ, CM Punk, he will also have to go through another obstacle in the form of Alberto Del Rio, the former champion, in this much-anticipated Triple Threat match. Add tables, ladders and chairs to the equation and we potentially have a match-of-the-year candidate.

Miz will get a chance to shine and once again become champion if he plays his cards right. He needs to regain the title in order to finally put all the questions to rest about his place in the industry.

Miz hasn't held the title since Extreme Rules, where he lost the title to John Cena. Since then, he has had his share of ups and downs.

He is in desperate need of a change, with the only fix being the WWE title.

Miz needs credibility. That's what separates the superstars from the posers. Miz comes across as a poser—a cool poser, but a poser nonetheless. Going into this match, he's built up a little bit of momentum with a victory over John Morrison and giving a Skull Crushing Finale to his former partner, R-Truth, prior to that.

A count-out victory over Randy Orton has put him back in the title hunt (it should have been a pin-fall victory rather than a count-out). At least we could say he earned it, but I suppose that it doesn't matter. Once again, he's on the trail of the championship—that's what counts.

Does he deserve a shot at the title? Yes.

He's a former champion and should be afforded such an opportunity. Let's face it, he has worked extremely hard throughout his career to get where he is today. He is no one-hit wonder; he does have another title run in him. All he needs is a chance. And that's what he has, a chance. This match will not be a walk in the park. Whoever the champ is in the end deserves to be. If Miz does win the title, you will have to give him credit where credit is due.

He needs the win more than CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio.

Del Rio has failed to impress. WWE will have to go back to the drawing board on this one; we won't see the title back on him anytime soon.

CM Punk, for some reason, seems bigger than the title. Well, that's right now anyway. The moment he loses the title he may come across totally different, but that's Punk's worry.

Miz needs the victory in order to make fans remember why he was given the ball to carry in the first place. His first run as champ was uneventful. His winning the title was one of the biggest stories of the year. The fact that he held onto the belt as long as he did showed his potential to become a great heel champion.

That was then, this is now. We know that Miz is ready for the big time. He has become more seasoned as a performer and will only get better with time. He has proven that. Slowly, but surely, he keeps taking steps forward as of late.

Miz will have to step it up a bit for this match, where so many variables will come into play. How he performs will tell the story. Does he belong in the big leagues or will he continue to be a fish out of water? The payoff is waiting just around the corner. Miz has to take this match seriously. It's not just about the belt, it's about putting everything on the line to win it.

The TLC match is an extreme one, but it will be Miz's trial by fire. Miz need to win this one or he'll remain a question mark.
