Josh MartinDec 17, 2011

With trophies in England, Spain and the United States already under his belt, David Beckham appears set to chase hardware in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to The Daily Mail, the superstar midfielder, whose illustrious career has included stints with Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Los Angeles Galaxy, will be in the City of Light when PSG welcomes Lille to the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Becks has been rumored to be on his way to PSG for months now, even while he was still under contract and in pursuit of the MLS Cup with the Galaxy. The club recently came under the ownership of a Qatari investment firm, which looking to turn the Parisians into a European powerhouse not unlike what Sheikh Mansour has done with Manchester City.

For Beckham, that could mean an 18-month contract worth as much as £12 million to play for a PSG side that came into the weekend just one point back of Montepelier for the lead in France's Ligue 1.

Becks is still thought to be considering a return to LA, where he and his family have built a comfortable life in the five years since his highly anticipated arrival. He's also been linked to a possible return to the English Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, who currently sit fourth in the league table. Such a move would grant Beckham an excellent opportunity to earn his way onto the English national team in time for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

For now, though, a jump to PSG appears to be the most likely option for Beckham. With the Red and Blue, he'd be able to conquer yet another high-profile club circuit and compete in the UEFA Champions League as a result while remaining close enough to Jolly Olde England appeal to Fabio Capello on a regular basis.

It may seem treasonous for one of the most celebrated sports figures in the history of Great Britain to take his talents to France, though Becks taking over Paris would serve as some rather interesting fodder with which the Brits may jibe their centuries-old rivals for years to come.
