WWE Is the Fountain of Youth for Professional Wrestlers

At the WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs this Sunday, a 52-year-old man (with a banged up body) is in possession of one of the most coveted spots in the business. He's working a pay-per-view match against one of the biggest names in the game.

Look over the card, and you will find that a 46-year-old man is also working a match. He had been semi-retired and was working as a commentator.

WrestleMania is the biggest wrestling event in the world. Everyone that has ever stepped foot inside of a wrestling ring wants to be booked for that show.

Last year, a 61-year-old man had one of those prestigious spots. This is the very same man who made his debut in 1970, which is well before a lot of today's stars were even born.

Interestingly enough, wrestling fans aren't complaining.

WWE is the fountain of youth.

When you're working for Vince McMahon, the wrestling world forgives your age. Jerry Lawler is old enough to be a grandparent, but he was still cheered at WrestleMania. Kevin Nash and Booker T were considered old when they were working for TNA—and that was a couple of years back. Today, wrestling fans are looking forward to their matches against Triple H and Cody Rhodes, respectively.

That's quite the change from the norm. For years, wrestling fans have been very unforgiving of older wrestlers. 

A 61-year-old Ric Flair was bashed heavily by wrestling fans for coming out of retirement and joining TNA (with an occasional match or two). WCW was panned back in the days because of all the veteran performers that they were scooping up. Whenever fans hear about a legend still working matches in high school gymnasiums, what they feel is a sense of pity.

McMahon needs to be commended for creating an environment where wrestlers can feel young again.
