WWE News: Latest Health Updates on Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara
Not too long ago, it looked like the WWE’s influx of high flyers would lead to a so-called “Luchador era.”
However, with Rey Mysterio reinjuring his knee over the summer and undergoing subsequent surgery, and Sin Cara suffering a knee injury that is scheduled to keep him out until 2012, the company's two most well-known luchadores are suddenly sitting at home.
So—if you’re wondering what’s going on with them—here's the latest on the injury statuses of both, including a look at when they could be back in 2012.

"Rey Mysterio was telling people backstage at Monday’s Slammy Awards that he’s in no rush to return. After his latest knee surgery, he wants to make sure he’s 100% before wrestling again.
While he was hoping to be back in action in time for WrestleMania on April 1st, he’s now shooting for May.
As for Sin Cara, he’s got about four months before he’s ready to return following his recent knee surgery. He’s planning to compete at WrestleMania and does not want to miss the big payday.
"
I’m sure that, deep down, both Sin Cara and Mysterio want to be healthy enough to compete at Wrestlemania. However, they must both take the Mysterio route and wait until they are fully healthy to come back.
The last thing the WWE needs is for either of them to come back before they’re ready and get reinjured. Especially with Mysterio likely nearing the end of his in-ring career, he’s got to be extra careful after undergoing what seems like his 563rd knee surgery.
That being said, the selfish part of me really hopes that both Mysterio and Sin are back in time for Wrestlemania 28.
I know a lot of wrestling fans don’t really like Sin Cara too much. He’s developed a reputation as a botcher and has already been suspended for violating the WWE’s wellness program. However, there are very few money matches the WWE can put on, and Mysterio vs. Sin Cara is one of them.
Sin Cara is arguably the most popular wrestler from Mexico, and Mysterio is one of the most popular stars in all of the WWE. Their styles would mesh well, and a battle between two luchadores would be a big sell for the Hispanic market.
This match needs to go down, and it needs to happen at Wrestlemania 28, because no one knows for sure how much more time Mysterio has in the WWE.
