When: Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1:00 p.m. EST
Watch: FOX; WVUE-TV FOX 8 Live (New Orleans) and KMSP TV FOX 9 (Minnesota)
Spread: New Orleans -7
You have to love the 10-3 Saints just giving a single touchdown against a 2-11 Vikings team that is absolutely terrible.
Adrian Peterson may be back from injury this week, but New Orleans had no problems bottling up the red-hot Chris Johnson on Sunday in Tennessee.
Expect them to give it their all as they try to get a solid road win to prepare for the playoffs.
Over/Under: 51
Under. That is simply too high a number of points for these two teams to reasonably reach .
Minnesota actually has a decent run defense without committing extra defenders and knows that the pass will be coming. That means they should be more than prepared to shift their focus to the Saints receivers and to pressuring Drew Brees.
Expect a relatively low-scoring game this week with the Saints coming out ahead.
Key Injuries (via Rotoworld)
Saints
Questionable: RB Mark Ingram (toe), DL Turk McBride (ankle), DL Sedrick Ellis (hamstring), LB Jonathan Casillas (knee)
Probable: TE Jimmy Graham (back)
Vikings
Questionable: RB Adrian Peterson (ankle), DB Chris Cook (non-injury)
Probable: QB Christian Ponder (hip)
Fantasy Big Plays
Drew Brees—It’s always a treat to watch Brees take the field, and his ability to dominate defenses is something special.
Minnesota has one of the worst passing defenses in the league (giving up the 26 most yards per game), and he should have no problem carving them up.
Adrian Peterson—Make sure you monitor AP’s status in the days leading up to the game.
If he is cleared to play, he’s going to have his usual solid performance with his health near 100 percent.
Keys to Saints Win
Sling the rock.
The Saints have the most prolific passing offense in the NFL and average over 325.2 yards a game through the air.
Against a weak Vikings secondary, Drew Brees and his receivers should have a field day. Look for them to air it out early and often.
Keys to Vikings Win
Get production from their passing game.
If AP is on the field, it’s going to force the Saints to commit extra defenders to stopping him.
New Orleans gives the third-most passing yards in the league, but that is often because teams are forced to play them from behind.
Should Minnesota be able to get ahead in this game with help from their air attack, they can settle in and run some time off the clock.
Prediction
Saints 28-Vikings 17
