Chris Paul to Clippers: Donald Sterling Will Find a Way to Destroy His Career
For the first time, the Los Angeles Clippers are the talk of the NBA.
After acquiring Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets, the Clippers are set to make a run at an NBA championship in the upcoming season.
The Clippers currently have a great starting five, room to get better and an increasing fanbase that has sold out the Staples Center for the season for the first time ever.
Everything is going the way of the Clippers. They got their man in Paul. They are the lead story on every sports television and radio program on the air.
No one can screw this up for them.
That is, no one except Donald Sterling.
Unfortunately for the Clippers, Sterling is still a factor and while things are on the up right now for the franchise, ultimately he's the one man that can send things crashing to the ground.
Remembering that the goal is to keep Paul in a Clippers uniform long-term, the smarter money is on the fact that Sterling makes Paul's life miserable before too long. He's done it before, what's to say he won't do it again?
Long known for his frugal and losing ways, it appears that Sterling is staying out of the way and doing things the right way for once. He's earned the reputation as one of the worst owners in professional sports for a reason.
The only way to keep Paul in a Clippers uniform long-term is for Sterling to stay out of the way and not screw up a good thing. Only time will tell if he's up to the challenge.
