Week 15 Fantasy Rankings: Gauging the Riskiest Starters

Chris TrapassoDec 15, 2011

It is the fantasy football playoffs and for some of you, the championship this weekend.

No more messing around. No shaky starters in your lineup when you're this close to the title, right?

Here are Week 15's fantasy guys that come with the most risk.

Maybe you get a rush out of taking a risk.

Be careful.

Ben Roethlisberger

1 of 3

There's a chance Ben Roethlisberger won't practice before his huge Monday Night Football matchup with the ferocious defense of the 49ers.

He displayed his old-school toughness last week against the Browns, playing the entire second half on a a bum ankle.

He finished the game with 280 yards, two scores and an interception.

The Browns do have a respectable secondary, but overall, their defense is not nearly as aggressive or talented as San Fran's.

Playing on the road against a unit that should be getting back Patrick Willis this week, there's a ton of risk surrounding Big Ben as a fantasy option this week.

DeSean Jackson

2 of 3

Yes, with Michael Vick back in the lineup, DeSean Jackson's stock as a fantasy receiver certainly goes up.

He did have four catches for 59 yards with a touchdown catch last week against the Dolphins.

However, do you trust this wildly inconsistent pass-catcher against Darrelle Revis on Sunday?

I most certainly do not.

Revis will do his best to disrupt Jackson's routes at the line and if the Jets get out to a lead, how hard will No. 10 play?

Jackson does have the capability of getting free on a long pass or two, don't forget that.

The definition of risky.

Beanie Wells

3 of 3

Beanie Wells exploded for 228 yards against the Rams' 32nd-ranked run defense three weeks ago.

Last week, against the 49ers top-ranked unit, he totaled just 27 yards on the ground.

Hmm.

He gets the Browns' 31st-ranked run defense that allows 4.5 yards per rush.

Something tells me he'll be a little closer to his performance against St. Louis than the disappointing effort against San Francisco when his game against Cleveland is over.

Right?
