Each MLB Team's Must-See Fan Video on the Internet

Joel ReuterDec 13, 2011

More times than not, it is the action that takes place on the field that makes headlines at a baseball game, and rightfully so, as that is what everyone pays to see.

However, sometimes the paying fans steal the show for one reason or another, whether they make a drunken dash onto the field, an athletic catch in the stands or something else entirely.

So here is a look at one fan video from each MLB team that is a must-see, as these guys' 15 minutes of fame deserve a second look.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Everyone hopes to come away from attending a baseball game with a souvenir ball, whether it is from a player throwing one into the stands or a foul ball off of someone's bat.

However, wrestling that ball away from the blonde in the front row that the player was trying to throw it to does not exactly scream out classy move.

Atlanta Braves

Throughout the baseball season, fans pop up on the SportsCenter Top 10 list by making an impressive catch in the stands.

This one may be the best I've seen though, as the fan fully extends and catches the ball on a line drive. Impressive to say the least.

Baltimore Orioles

As much fun as it is can be watching a fan run around on the field attempting to evade security, it is at least twice as fun watching said fan inevitably get tackled.

In Baltimore though, security responds with the same urgency they would had a paper bag been blown down onto the field, and this fan jogs around for a solid couple of minutes before finally giving up. That must make the Orioles feel all warm and fuzzy knowing their safety is such a concern.

Boston Red Sox

In sharp contrast to the Orioles fan who ran the field at his leisure for several minutes, this Red Sox fan's shoes barely hit the field before he is on his back.

Points to the security guard for his 4.4 speed and flawless form tackle, hard to believe the NFL has not come calling.

Chicago Cubs

5 of 31

This is the ultimate of all fan videos when it comes to the MLB, and as a Cubs fan, it pains me to even watch it.

There is no reason Steve Bartman should have become the scapegoat he did, as the Alex Gonzalez error and subsequent loss in the next game were much more to blame. That said, just seeing his face still stirs up some deep-seeded hatred.

Chicago White Sox

Video Here at 1:07 mark.

A fan running on the field is generally a harmless act by a drunken idiot in a moment of rash decision making.

That was not the case though when a father and son ran onto the field at U.S. Cellular Field and assaulted Royals first base coach Tom Gamboa in what was one of the scarier on-field moments in recent memory.

Cincinnati Reds

Fans falling out of the stands trying to catch foul balls is no laughing matter, as a fan actually lost his life last season at a Rangers game falling over a railing.

That said, it is pretty cool to see a fan come so close to taking a big spill before saving himself with an impressive one-handed grab of the railing.

Cleveland Indians

8 of 31

The city of Cleveland didn't take it very well when LeBron James decided to "take his talents to South Beach" following "The Decision" on July 8th, 2010.

Apparently it was still stinging 20 days later when the fan in this video decided to wear a James Heat jersey to an Indians game while sitting in the bleachers. Eventually, he was harassed to the point of being moved out of the section, showing if nothing else just how little Cleveland fans actually care about the Indians.

Colorado Rockies

9 of 31

There is no questioning the die-hard fanbases of teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies and Cubs, among others.

It is refreshing to see someone care so much about a smaller market team, though, as this local car dealership owner is no doubt the biggest Rockies fan out there.

Detroit Tigers

10 of 31

Bats flying into the stands are always a scary scene, and no one would ever wish harm on a defenseless fan just enjoying the game.

However, this man makes an embarrassingly big deal over what looked to be little more than a tap on the back of the head after the bat hits the seat behind him. The article below the video link gives a glimpse into the flack he got the next day from the local media.

Houston Astros

11 of 31

One of the more memorable fan moments of last season and in the last several years was this Astros fan's impressive escape from security last season.

After spending some time running on the field, he scaled the outfield wall, then climbed up into the lawn area above and on into the boxes in the outfield to escape.

Kansas City Royals

A foul ball is heading straight towards you and you are in the middle of chowing down on a bucket of popcorn. Do you drop the popcorn for a play at the ball, or dodge the ball to save the popcorn?

Trick question, you catch the ball in the popcorn bucket, high-five some fans around you, enjoy your moment on TV and then go back to eating your delicious snack.

Los Angeles Angels

13 of 31

Promotional giveaways at baseball games are always cool at the time, but inevitably wind up being something that gets thrown in a drawer or never worn again.

However, for Angels fans on May 10th of this past season, they got to be part of history when they broke the Guinness World Record for most people wearing costume masks at one gathering.

The previous record of 250 was shattered as 40,128 people donned wrestling masks to etch the Angels fans in the record books.

Los Angeles Dodgers

14 of 31

In the Royals slide, the fans hypothetical was between saving his popcorn or catching a foul ball. This Dodgers' fan takes that to the next level.

Dropping some food or a beer to catch a foul ball is one thing because you'll have to buy another one, but dropping your daughter to catch a foul ball is just common sense. She'll be fine and totally over it once you buy her some ice cream, and you've got yourself an awesome souvenir. Job well done.

Miami Marlins

15 of 31

Random acts of kindness are a rarity these days, but the above video proves that they do still occur, as a group of guys treat a homeless man to a day at the ballpark.

From tailgating with him, to enjoying the game and even buying him a souvenir shirt, the guys go out of their way to give a complete stranger a fun day.

Milwaukee Brewers

16 of 31

In one of the more heart-warming baseball stories of last season, a young fan gave a ball he caught to a slightly younger fan who was genuinely upset with missing the catch.

For his kindness, he got an autographed bat from Justin Upton, tickets to a future game and a trip to the announcers booth.

Minnesota Twins

17 of 31

Everything the Astros fan who got away from security was, this Twins fan could have been had he only had the athleticism to scale the plastic bag fence of the Metrodome.

Instead, he was yanked down by not one, not two, but five security guys while another three were close by to provide backup should it be needed.

New York Mets

18 of 31

Stadiums are generally over-run with security, so when a fan makes his way onto the field, his time in the spotlight is usually limited to only a few seconds.

However, the fan in this video is simply too fast for the guards in pursuit and he runs them all over the outfield before finally being caught in right field. The guards strategy of all chasing after him in a straight line all around the field may not have been their best approach.

New York Yankees

19 of 31

NSFW (language).

This video displays the blind hatred that Yankees fans have for anything and everything Boston, as a Red Sox fan makes his way through the bleachers at Yankee Stadium to a chorus of obscenity from everyone he passes.

That said, what would a Red Sox fan expect when venturing into such a hostile environment, as he was no doubt asking for everything he got.

Oakland Athletics

20 of 31

Drunken fans and baseball go hand in hand, but with this particular fan he was apparently belligerent enough to more or less clear out his entire section and inevitably draw the attention of police to the point that he was tasered in his seat.

It is people like him who make your average everyday drunken fan look bad.

Philadelphia Phillies No. 1

21 of 31

My personal favorite fan video of all-time. You can't draw up a cuter father-daughter moment than this Phillies fan and his three-year-old had last year.

The video became a viral sensation and even earned the duo an appearance on Comedy Central's Internet clip show Tosh.0.

Philadelphia Phillies No. 2

22 of 31

Ranking right up there with Mike Piazza's home run on the first game back after the 9/11 tragedy, the stadium-wide chant of "U-S-A" at Citizen's Bank Park following the announcement of Osama bin Laden's death was patriotism and sports combined at its finest.

The moment had to be an incredibly confusing one for the players on the field at the time, and the perfect example of just how quickly news spreads in the digital age.

Pittsburgh Pirates

23 of 31

Another memorable fan moment from last season, the use of what could certainly be considered excessive force on this fan at a Pirates game raised more than a few eyebrows league-wide.

This brought about the question of how much is too much when it comes to dealing with unruly fans, and in my opinion this was a bit much.

San Diego Padres

24 of 31

Catching a foul ball to interfere with the home team generally brings about the ire of the rest of the fans in the stadium, just ask Steve Bartman.

However, snagging a foul ball away from that same outfield when you are a fan of the other team, then pointing to your hat when he gives you a questioning stare is awesome, and as close as that guy can get to helping his team to a win on the field.

San Francisco Giants

25 of 31

When San Francisco-area musician Ashkon came out with a parody of the Journey hit Don't Stop Believing it was more as a tribute to his favorite team than a push for fame.

However, the song caught on and became the team's playoff anthem during their 2010 playoff run and made him a local icon.

Seattle Mariners

26 of 31

People making a fool of themselves dancing between innings at baseball games is a fairly standard sight when attending a ball game.

However, this young Mariners fan is far from embarrassing himself as he is legitimately putting on a show for the fans around him and has got some talent. If nothing else, it was probably better than the game going on in front of them.

St. Louis Cardinals

27 of 31

Decking yourself out in your favorite team's gear is standard practice for anyone attending a baseball game that considers themselves a fan of the team.

However, decking out your prosthetic leg with logos of your favorite team is the difference between fan and super fan, and is tough to top when it comes to ultimate fandom.

Tampa Bay Rays

28 of 31

Garbage picking is frowned on regardless of the situation, but apparently all bets are off when it comes to securing a foul ball that has been hit into the garbage.

There may be no other object that could cause grown men to fight over who gets to dig through the garbage, but for some reason no one would blame them for their action either.

Texas Rangers

29 of 31

Catching a foul ball at a game immediately makes you the coolest person in your section and generally draws of high fives and pats on the back from those around you.

However, catching a foul ball without even standing up while talking on the phone takes the cool to another level entirely. Catching the ball was cool, but you're going to have to excuse this guy, he's gotta take this.

Toronto Blue Jays

30 of 31

In this video, Jose Bautista takes the old baseball idiom of "Hit It Where They Ain't" in a different direction when he pulls a foul ball into the very upper deck of the Rogers Centre into an area where there was legitimately no one sitting for rows and rows.

That led to a scramble by fans in the deck below to make their way up to the top level and try to find the souvenir. The announcers had a good time watching it play out too, as they commentated on the action in the stands as well as on the field.

Washington Nationals

31 of 31

For a fan visiting a ballpark they have never been to, finding their way to their seats, the various stands within the stadium and even figuring out where to park can pose a problem.

This fan went above and beyond in putting together the ultimate fan's guide in what equates to a virtual tour of Nationals Park.
