WWE TLC 2011: Why CM Punk Will Retain the Title in the Triple Threat Match

Is there really any doubt how this will turn out?

I realize The Miz is looking better in the ring and on the mic than he ever has. I realize Alberto Del Rio must be in the title picture to have relevance in the WWE. But when it all comes down to it, right now, CM Punk is the WWE's meal ticket.

More relevant than John Cena.

More relevant than Triple H.

More relevant than The Rock (because he is not there every week).

Today, more than ever, the WWE needs the strap to stay on CM Punk and have the other wrestlers come chase him.

Management and creative have lost sight of how Punk should be portrayed as the anti-hero and the one "John Wayne" character to save the universe from the ills of professional wrestling. Those ills include, John Laurinaitis, ADR and Miz.

And anyone who gets in his way.

To take a phrase from The Rock, Punk really has become the "People's Champion" and based on the IWC, the fans and anyone who has a mere thought about the business, Punk is the type of entertainer they want to plunk down money to see.

Cena is getting stale and he is at a cross roads.

ADR is boring as hell and he is not accepted by the fans as a heel champion.

The Miz is great, but a feud with Punk is what people are hoping for.

And let me throw in Dolph Ziggler, who should be begging for an opportunity to be the champion after the performance he has put on lately on shows and in PPV events.

But the reasons for Punk's retention of the WWE Title is simple; it's good for business.

And when push comes to shove, scripted or not, greed plays a huge role in this match.

It would appear ADR and Miz are on the same page and want to inflict punishment galore on the champion. But at some time, during the match, Miz will turn on ADR. ADR will turn on the end. It is inevitable.

And in the end, it helps Punk retain the title. Because also in the end, Punk holding on to the title, is the business decision that makes the most sense.
