How Can WWE Fix the Divas Division?
Trish Stratus, Lita, The Fabulous Moolah, Chyna—When you think of these divas, what comes to mind?
Is it the fact that they had the best pillow fights? The best lingerie dance?
No. These women were known for their ability to get there on the canvas and entertain us with their wrestling skills. It almost seems odd to call them divas because today's divas have been reduced to stripping girls in lingerie fights. Those women I previously mentioned were wrestlers.

When you look at today's diva division, it's greatly diminished. I'll give you a few examples:
Kelly Kelly: She's a bikini model turned diva. Kelly Kelly, from numerous sources, had no interest in becoming a professional wrestler, but only did so when a talent scout asked her after a Hawaiian Tropic show. She came to ECW and began a little segment known as "Kelly's Expose," where she would strip and dance until Mike Knox came out to cover her.
Kelly has won the title of "Most Improved Diva of 2008", but is it really fair for her to garner that title? Her in-ring abilities are far from impressive; the most I've seen from her is a Hurricarana. She claims she can do a Moonsault, but we've yet to see it in the year she's been here. Shouldn't someone like Maryse get the title for "Most Improved Diva of '08?"
Maria: A Raw diva search contestant. She came to the WWE with the gimmick of "stupid interview girl". While that was mildly entertaining, her in-ring skills are not. I'm not even sure Maria has a finisher. The most I've seen out of her is the Bronco Buster. That move seems to get the men more sexually aroused than it harms her opponent. WWE is keeping her around because she is willing to pose for Playboy. [Keep in mind she already has!] She's not very useful for much of anything else.
Maria seemed to be on the verge of having a storyline romance with Festus, but I guess the writers scratched that storyline due to lack of interest. Now she seems to be the jobber for Maryse and Michelle McCool. Will WWE keep Maria around for much longer?
Candice Michelle: When it comes to wrestling, she's okay. She botches a good deal of her moves, and you can see the fear in the other diva's eyes when she gets up on that turnbuckle.
I could go on and on, but I'll stop the torture here. My question is: What can the WWE do to improve the diva's division?
They're are a few exceptional divas such as Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Victoria, Mickie James, Katie Lea, and Maryse.
Out of those six girls, we hardly see three (Natalya, Victoria, Katie Lea).
In my opinion, the WWE should involve the divas in more storylines. Remember the Mickie James/Trish Stratus psycho stalker storyline? That was very entertaining. I like the storyline with Kane and Kelly Kelly. The girl has surprisingly good acting skills.
I also think the divas need to be involved on the mic more. Mickie James was amazing as a psycho, but we hardly ever see her (or any diva) talk.
WWE seems to have stopped the diva's searches altogether, which is great. But what else can they do to improve the division? And dare I say, what makes the TNA Knockouts so much better than the Divas?
Opinions?
