NBA Trade Rumors: Combination of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin Is Best for NBA

Joshua CarrollDec 11, 2011

Rumors are circulating more in the NBA than they are in a girls' bathroom.

It is hard to predict what is going to happen next.

It seems as though David Stern is doing his best to prevent select big-market teams to form super-squads in order to keep whatever balance there is left in the NBA.

Now that the Lakers have pulled out of the bidding for Chris Paul, the two newest and latest teams in the mix are the Warriors and Clippers.

Immediately, the first thing us NBA fans think about when we hear this is the combination of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Needless to say, this would make for some amazing basketball and, surely, a fair share of top plays on SportsCenter.

It is debatable that Chris Paul is the best passer and alley-oop-thrower there is in the game today, but he definitely ranks among the best.

Basically, this would be John Stockton and Karl Malone on steroids.

Paul would make the Clippers a playoff team for years to come if he chose to sign the extension, and the Clippers could eventually surpass the Lakers when Kobe retires.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, so let's save that discussion for another time. But, I do believe that the Clippers would give some teams a scare in the playoffs with the core of Chris Paul, Caron Butler and Blake Griffin, along with the other young players on the Clipper roster.

Now of course, this is all speculation. We really don't know what's going to happen next in the NBA.

But, it sure is fun to think about the possibility of Chris Paul teaming up with one of the best finishers around the rim to ever play the game.

Maybe David Stern is against exciting basketball, too, so he might reject this whole idea.

Maybe Chris Paul sticks it out in New Orleans for a season before becoming a free agent and sticking it right back to David Stern by signing with the Lakers.

Maybe he ends up on the Warriors paired with Stephen Curry in the backcourt.

Maybe Chris Paul is just trying to get to California.

You just never know with the NBA today, but with the season right around the corner, I assure you many fans would not be opposed to watching Chris Paul and Blake Griffin play together day in and day out.

They could prove to be one of the most exciting duos of all time.
