UFC 140 Results: Frank Mir Inches Closer to Title Shot with Win over Nogueira
On Saturday night, Frank Mir and Minotauro Nogueira had a brief grappling battle, but it was easily one of the best ever seen in the Octagon.
Not only was it the best grappling battle, but it was undoubtedly one of the best submissions in the Octagon as well.
Mir now has the chin and the arm—and shoulder—of Nogueira on his mantle, as he snapped Nogueira's arm with a kimura in the first round.
Mir is now on a three-fight winning streak following a knockout over Mirko Cro Cop, a unanimous decision over Roy Nelson and this submission over Nogueira.
Frank Mir is now just one win from another shot at UFC gold.
Up next for Mir will likely be a fight with former heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, as Dana White has already called that an intriguing matchup.
Should Mir defeat Velasquez, he will earn a fight with either Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem or a third fight with Brock Lesnar—maybe you've heard of him.
Mir proved on Saturday night that when he is focused and determined, he is one of the most lethal heavyweights in the division and he should be feared.
