UFC 140 Results: Jon Jones Continues to Prove That He Is the Man to Beat

Jeff ChaseDec 10, 2011

It took two rounds, but Jon Jones proved to the world why he is the UFC light heavyweight champion of the world at UFC 140. Jones defeated Lyoto Machida in a second-round submission to continue his reign as the light heavyweight champion.

With this victory, Jones has proven to the MMA world that he is the man to beat. Jones now stands at 15-1, and it looks as if he will be taking down anyone that gets in his way.

Jones has had possession of the title since he defeated Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128, where he knocked out Rua after four rounds.

Jones has handled his last six opponents with ease, and it doesn't seem as if he will be slowing down anytime soon.

Now, Jones will be focused on continuing his success in the UFC, and will be looking to take down whoever gets in his way.

While Jones has been dominate, one can't forget how quickly that can be diminished. As it was seen at UFC on FOX 1, Junior dos Santos took out Cain Velazquez in just over a minute. How the great fall so easily.

Velazquez came into that match undefeated, and was the overwhelming favorite. Without even making it to 10 seconds over a minute, it just proves that anything can happen once in the Octagon.

There is no immunity for Jones, but his dominate victory of Machida just proves that he is the man to reckon with in the light heavyweight division.
