Who Will Win the 2009 WWE Royal Rumble?
The Royal Rumble, one of the most prestigious events in Sports Entertainment today. This event not only hosts one of the most surprising matches of the year, but one of the most exciting.
When that timer goes down, everyone in the arena, at home, or your local sports bar, yells out 5!...4!....3!...2!...1! Once that timer goes down and the buzzer rings, everyone sits in anticipation about who is going to run out.
I can't say that I have not liked a single Royal Rumble in the history of the event, and I'm sure the 2009 Rumble won't disappoint.

However, the matter of this year is...who will win it? Many people, including me, thought that Jeff Hardy was going to win it and go on to Wrestlemania, except for the fact that he is now the WWE Champion and according to the rules of the Rumble "No World Champions may enter."
Now, this rule seemed to dissolve when ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero entered the rumble, making him the first World Champion to enter a Rumble, since the rule was made that the winner will get a World Title shot at Wrestlemania.
Another choice seemed to be "The Animal" Batista who was the obvious choice to win the Rumble this upcoming year, but the lightning struck, and Batista is out with an injury. The word is that he will be out for 6-8 months rehabbing his injury.
Lastly on people's minds was the conclusion that Christian Cage could return and win the Rumble in a surprise return and feud with Jeff Hardy, saying that he injured Jeff prior to the Survivor Series. This may have worked...if his contract expired three months before January.
Another B/R writer noted that he must wait 90 days before he could perform in the WWE. This also happened with Gail Kim, who, I believe, was training in Florida Championship Wrestling for sometime.
With all these obvious choices marked off, who's going to win it? Could it be Triple H's year? This could work out if planned well. Triple H could win it and go back on the hunt for the WWE title that he lost at Survivor Series to Edge because of Vladimir Kozlov.
However, if that were the case then the Kozlov feud would have ended by now if they wanted to build up to the Rumble. They could always start it up a little later, however.
Undertaker is another possible choice that has been talked about, from what I've heard, to win The Rumble.'Taker could go on and win the Royal Rumble and challenge John Cena at Wrestlemania, and make one of the biggest headliners in recent WWE history with a great bout of two unstoppable brawlers.
Having Undertaker jump ship to the Monday Night Raw brand would be a mix up for a while, at least until Batista comes back and starts a feud with Undertaker for the third or fourth time.
What about Matt Hardy? He really doesn't have a feud right now, that I'm aware of, against someone to defend his title against. He could easily win the Rumble if WWE continues letting ECW Champions into the match-up.
Hardy could continue going on a "who's he going to choose" storyline for about 2 weeks before choosing his brother Jeff to face off at Wrestlemania 25 in a brother vs. brother confrontation.
While it has happened before, they could change it up a bit and say that Matt didn't get this huge celebration that Jeff did when he won the world title, ECW title. While I don't consider the ECW as a main title, more of a mid-card title, WWE considers it a world title.
Wait! Wait a minute...what about Randy Orton. Randy Orton the Legend Killer. The man who people cheer for even when he's a heel...somethings gotta be wrong with that crowd. I think Orton better start calling people Hypocrites for about 3 weeks to get some boos on him. Anyways Orton is one of the best heels in WWE today. Everytime he gets onto that mic, he simply gets better. Also with Orton is Cody Rhodes and Manu, together they are Legacy, the newest stable on Raw. This stable goes on to show you that WWE has a bright future for Cody Rhodes and Manu, even Ted Dibiase should he join up into the group. *On a side note, Ted is, to me, a future main eventer with a guarentee.* Back to Orton, Orton recently punted Batista, putting him on the sidelines for a while, storyline wise, and, like I said, is the leader of Legacy. Winning the Rumble would definatley put Legacy into a much higher spot, and Orton would be back in the title hunt.
These are just some thoughts of what could happen. Go ahead and comment below on who you think would win the Rumble and why they would. Have a good day! This is Kevin O'Leary, signing off!
