Why Colt McCoy Shouldn't Be Judged for Lackluster Season on Bad Browns Team
According to Mike Florio of NBC Sports, Florio believes that McCoy may have reentered the game with a concussion:
""Will Burge of ESPN 850 in Cleveland posted on Twitter that the Browns P.R. staff asked reporters to turn off their lights during McCoy’s post-game availability. Light sensitivity is one of the various . . . wait for it . . . concussion-like symptoms."
"
Florio went on to state some important questions regarding McCoy's reentry as well:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
""But who determined McCoy was fine? And what testing was performed to ensure that he hadn’t suffered a concussion or concussion-like symptoms or a concussion-like concussion? (Those aren’t rhetorical questions; we’re going to ask the Browns for an explanation.)"
"
And Florio is right, because with concussions becoming emphasized so much, returning just after two plays is concerning. Then again, it's not surprising that McCoy threw a pick in the end-zone a few plays after getting back on the field.
In an article by Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Colt McCoy doesn't remember the hit from James Harrison:
""Honestly, I don't remember (the hit)," McCoy told the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram after the game."
"
Cabot went on to add:
""After the game, members of the Browns staff reportedly asked that television lights not be used while McCoy was talking to the media, which indicates McCoy might have been feeling lingering effects from the hit by Harrison."
"
Now include, McCoy's toughness to go back in against their bitter-rival, the Browns haven't had a QB play with this kind of competitive nature in a while. Not to mention, he's literally lacking talent all around him offensively.
The Browns have no WR who can stretch the field and no running game to help setup a passing game. When your QB is running for his life almost every play there's clearly some problems. The thing is, McCoy doesn't just take off running like most young QBs.
He does sit in the pocket and even when out of it, his eyes are down field. That's what you want from a young QB, but the WRs aren't making plays either. Now, the INT thrown at the end was an under-thrown pass however, we're also not giving enough credit to the Steelers defense.
Pittsburgh has arguably the NFL's best pass defense and pass rush, so to expect McCoy to win this game by himself without any ground game or legit WRs is asking a lot.
As for his yearly production, McCoy may only have 14 TD passes, but he's only thrown 11 INTs and he's at just over 2,700 passing yards.
So the problem isn't McCoy by any means. He's buying time with his feet virtually every time he drops back, not one of his receiving targets are good enough to beat single coverage on a consistent basis and they have one of the worst rushing offenses.
The season wasn't off to a good start either. First they lost guard Eric Steinbach for the year and then RB Brandon Jackson. Two other solid offensive players who most definitely would have helped.
If Cleveland can get McCoy some help, for as respectable as he's played, the Browns can finally have some offensive production.
