Fantasy Football Week 14: 3 Bold Predictions for Sunday's Games

Chris TrapassoDec 9, 2011

Need some bold predictions for the first round of your fantasy football league playoffs?

Look no further.

Week 14 offers a handful of intriguing matchups like the Saints and Titans, Bengals and Texans and the NFC East showdown between the Giants and Cowboys.

These are my most courageous predictions for this weekend's action.

Hakeem Nicks Will Lead the Giants in Receiving Yards

1 of 3

Victor Cruz has emerged as the Giants biggest playmaker, with at least six catches in his team's last six games.

He has four touchdowns in that span and is averaging a whopping 17.4 yards per catch on the season.

Because of Cruz's recent explosion, I think the Cowboys will shift the majority of their defensive focus on him instead of Hakeem Nicks, leading to a big day for No. 88.

He did have two touchdown grabs against the Packers a week ago, and he will be the primary target in the red zone.

Remember, Nicks has plenty of big play potential himself.

Five-to-seven catches isn't out of the question.

Cam Newton Accounts for Four Touchdowns

2 of 3

This won't be easy for Newton against a respectable Falcons defense, but I think he has another big day in him, especially at home.

Atlanta cornerback Brent Grimes is out for this one which leads me to believe the Panthers will take the occasional shot down the field to Steve Smith.

He did throw three interceptions in his first game against the Falcons in the ATL, but he's a more mature passer now that doesn't take as many risks into double and triple coverage and knows he can be just as efficient with his legs.

This game has all the making of a shootout, so Newton should get a ton of possessions to continue his incredible rookie season.

Marshawn Lynch Will Rush for 150 Yards or More Against the Rams

3 of 3

Who knew Beast Mode was fueled by Skittles?

Marshawn Lynch has been running wild of late with four 100-yard games in his last five.

His only non-100-yard effort came against the Rams a few weeks ago when he totaled 88 rushing yards.

However, St. Louis does have the worst run defense in football, and the Rams allow nearly 160 yards on the ground per game.

In prime time, I expect Lynch to feed off the energy of the Seahawks' crowd and make the most out of the 20-plus carries he'll most likely receive.
