TNA Year in Review: Nominees for Impact Wrestling's End-of-Year Awards

Erik BeastonDec 9, 2011

With 2011 rapidly coming to a close, it is time to take a look back at the year that was for TNA Impact Wrestling and celebrate those that made, pun most definitely intended, an impact.

Hulk Hogan and his Immortal faction dominated TNA for the majority of the year.

Early on, Jeff Hardy's  heel character drew rave reviews until he showed up at the Victory Road pay-per-view in no condition to perform. Controversy surrounded the event, but in October, Hardy returned in better shape and healthier than he had been in years.

"Cowboy" James Storm and Bobby Roode started the year as teammates but broke off and enjoyed singles success. Each of them enjoyed a TNA World Heavyweight Championship reign.

A.J. Styles had another solid, if unspectacular year, and cemented his status as the backbone of TNA.

Jeff Jarrett and Bully Ray were amongst the most hated wrestlers on the TNA. The former's wife, Karen, continued to be one of the more effective female performers for either of the two big wrestling companies in America.

Mr. Anderson achieved the success so many knew he was capable of and was a fixture in the main event scene for most of the year.

Austin Aries arrived on the scene and immediately dominated the X-Division scene, while Brian Kendrick proved to be a worthy first foil for the former Ring of Honor champion.

The Knockouts had an interesting, if not disappointing, year.

Mickie James picked up where she left off at the end of 2010 and had a largely successful year.

Winter wreaked havoc on TNA and won her first major women's gold.

Velvet Sky became the most popular Knockout in TNA and was rewarded for her longevity and hard work with the TNA Knockouts title in October.

All these men and women enjoyed varied levels of success throughout 2011, and each left their mark on what was another year of evolution in TNA.

But only a select few can be deemed "the best" and awarded for their efforts.

These are the nominees for the TNA 2011 year-end awards. They are in no way representative of Bleacher Report as a whole. They are the result of this writer's opinion only.
