Week 14 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Beanie Wells and Others to Bench

Chris TrapassoDec 9, 2011

Now is not the time to start a guy in your fantasy football league because he's on your favorite team, or because he's had a few solid weeks in the last month.

If the matchup is bad, he's got to be sent to the bench, whether it pains you to do it or not.

It's the playoffs.

The time when great fantasy owners separate themselves from the good ones.

Click-and-drag these players to the bench before Week 14's action.

Beanie Wells (vs. San Francisco 49ers)

Even without Patrick Willis, the 49ers defense is still tremendous. Extremely ferocious and technically sound, especially along the defensive line and in the secondary.

In Wells' first meeting with the NFL's top run defense, he totaled 33 yards on eight carries.

Not exactly the type of production you need right now from your starting running back.

No team has rushed for 100 yards against the 49ers this season.

Although Wells has shown some signs of fantasy life of late, he deserves a seat on your bench this week.

Andy Dalton (at Houston Texans)

Dalton has pieced together a respectable rookie campaign, and has three touchdowns in his last three games.

However, he's up against the stout Texans defense that has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

Dalton is coming off a poor performance against the Steelers in Week 13, and he faces an equally terrorizing group of defenders this week.

Rarely is he a great fantasy start, but now is definitely not the time to place him in your lineup.

Santonio Holmes (vs. Kansas City Chiefs)

Brandon Flowers is one of the best cornerbacks in the game and he doesn't get a whole lot of love around the league.

It's likely he'll be matched up with Holmes for the majority of this one.

The Chiefs aren't a good team, mainly because of their offensive deficiencies, but they do have a secondary that's allowing a mere 213 yards through the air per contest.

I don't expect Holmes to have a big game and that will mostly be due to Mark Sanchez's struggles.
