Chris Paul Lakers Trade: Khloe Kardashian Would Back Lamar Odom's Move to NOLA

Although this may no longer be the case, it looked as if Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom would become a member of the New Orleans Hornets as part of a trade for Chris Paul. Despite her LA roots, Odom's wife Khloe Kardashian would fully support the move.

Odom was part of a prospective trade that would have sent himself, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans. Also, Paul would have become a Laker with center Pau Gasol moving on to the Houston Rockets.

The deal was vetoed by NBA commissioner David Stern, however, amid pressure from small-market owners who felt the deal would compromise the new collective bargaining agreement. With the trade currently on the shelf, there is certainly no guarantee that it will be revived.

If it is, though, Khloe would have no issue following her man to the Big Easy. According to TMZ, Kardashian spent a lot of time in New Orleans with her family as her sister Kim was in a long-term relationship with former New Orleans Saints and current Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush.

While Khloe would presumably enjoy New Orleans due to the prospects of collecting Mardi Gras beads with reckless abandon, Odom isn't particularly thrilled with the idea. According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Odom was shell shocked when he learned of the trade, and even more surprised when it was vetoed.

"

"I guess that means I’m a Laker if the trade didn’t go through," a somber Odom said in a phone interview with The Times. "I don’t know what to do for the Lakers. I’m even weirded out by the league doing what they did. I don’t know what to do."

"

Leaving Los Angeles on such awkward terms probably wasn't in Odom's plans, but at the same time if the trade ultimately is unable to be resuscitated, Odom will have to go back to a team that clearly coveted Paul much more than him.

From a basketball standpoint, the Lakers would make out great if they were able to land Paul. In terms of public relations, however, New Orleans would score big time as Khloe, Lamar and the entire dysfunctional Kardashian clan would be tied to the city once again.

The Hornets wouldn't have too bad of a basketball team either as they would be adding solid pieces in Odom, Scola and Martin to a lineup that already includes players like Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza.

Ultimately, I think the move would be great for Odom and his bride. The Lakers obviously want to make big changes and Odom isn't in their future plans. The Hornets wouldn't be title contenders, but they would certainly be in the playoff mix and Odom would be an integral part of the team.

Going to New Orleans would also help further Khloe's "career" (what is it she does again?). Leaving Los Angeles will help get her out of Kim's shadow and there will certainly be plenty of hijinks she can get herself into on Bourbon Street. Odom to New Orleans would be a win for everyone.
