Johnny Damon Has Been Pretty Damn Good for the Bombers

Kevin RozellDec 27, 2008

The idea that Johnny Damon isn’t the same player that he was with the Sox is false. He may have lost his beard and long hair, but he has basically put up the same numbers for the Yanks. In some categories he has done better. He has always thrown like a mary, so that doesn’t matter. haha.

As you can see from the numbers below..Johnny had 172 more at-bats with the Sox over that span, then he had with the Yanks for the past three seasons. He hit for a higher average, drove in more runs, had more hits, and more runs batted in. That makes sense considering he had more plate appearances.

His stolen base total and home run production increased since he joined the Yankees. So the idea that Damon isn’t the same player should be put to rest. If he had the same amount of at-bats that he had with the Sox..I’m sure the numbers would be very similar.
