College Football Awards 2011: Breaking Down the Odds for Biletnikoff Award Nomin

Tim KeeneyDec 8, 2011

The Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the nation's best reciever, has had some big winners in the past.

Guys like Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson have all won the award.

Here's a look at the nominees for this year.

Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma

Broyles was probably the favorite to win the award coming into the season because he was so tremendous as a junior.

In 2010, Broyles pulled in an amazing 131 catches for 1,622 yards and 14 touchdowns.

It appeared he was on a similar track this year until he tore his ACL against Texas A&M. He was, of course, lost for the rest of the season, but Broyles still finished with 83 catches, 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The injury obviously will make it very hard for Broyles to win.

Chance to win: 1 Percent

Robert Woods, USC

Woods followed up his fantastic freshman year by hauling in 111 catches for 1,292 yards and 15 touchdowns.

He had a little help on the other side of the field as freshman Marquise Lee often took defenders away, but it was clear that Woods was the No. 1 threat for Matt Barkley.

Woods' season was highlighted by a 12-catch, 255-yard effort against Arizona. He also scored twice in that game.

Chance to win: 45 Percent

Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State

Last year's winner recently announced that he would forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft. Receivers around the nation can now exhale as they finally have a chance to win the award for themselves.

Still though, Blackmon isn't necessarily a lock to beat Woods this year. Most of his numbers are down from last year as the junior pulled in 113 catches, 1,336 yards and 15 touchdowns.

As you can see, Woods and Blackmon's numbers are extremely similar.

Both teams had tremendous success, both guys had great quarterbacks throwing to them, both have good chances to win.

However, USC was never able to make a dent in the BCS and won't get to go to a bowl because of its probation. That might have a negative effect on Woods.

Chance to win: 54 Percent
