WWE News: Kelly Kelly's WWE Career in Jeopardy If She Pursues Outside Interests?

Kelly Kelly has lived the WWE dream. 

She debuted on TV when she was just 19 years old, she’s had a firm spot on TV since then and she won her first Divas Championship at the young age of 24. During that span, she’s become the WWE’s most popular Diva, and like others in the past, she appears to be looking to capitalize on that popularity with ventures outside of the WWE.

Hot on the heels of former WWE performer Maryse Ouellet’s decision to move on from the professional wrestling industry and attempt to make it in the fashion industry, Kelly Kelly may also be positioning herself for a career outside of WWE.

The WWE Diva is looking to position herself for acting and modeling gigs late next year and is pushing her real name, Barbara Blank, instead of Kelly Kelly. Whether it’s her just trying to have a backup plan, testing the waters to see if there’s interest in her, or her outwardly looking at something different, nobody knows.

Uh oh. Could Kelly Kelly be making a big mistake here? 

While I have no problem with K2 looking attempting to pursue outside interests, I’d say there’s a 99 percent chance that WWE officials won’t be too thrilled about her looking for acting and modeling gigs that aren’t WWE-related. 

As the report points out, Maryse’s outside interests resulted in her parting ways with the WWE (even if the release was mutual) and one of the reasons why Mickie James was let go by the company was because of her outside “music aspirations.”

The WWE doesn’t take too kindly to any of its talent looking to make money elsewhere, and that seems to be especially true when it pertains to the Divas. 

Of course, no one seems to be sure if Kelly Kelly wants to move on from the WWE or if she’s just looking to broader her horizons, but company officials generally seem to think it’s the former—if someone’s looking at other interests, they must want to leave. 

Given Kelly Kelly’s popularity, however, I think it would be wise for the WWE to let her go out there, get more modeling gigs (sorry, but she can’t act) and get the company more exposure as a result, unless it’s discovered that she’s planning to leave the company. 

I don’t think that’s the case, though, and I assume we’ll have at least a few more years of Kelly Kelly gracing our TV screens, as long as company officials don’t freak out about her actually having interests other than professional wrestling.
