WWE News: The Reason Why Lilian Garcia Came Back to the WWE
In 2009, ring announcer Lilian Garcia left the WWE and the squared circle as a whole to focus on her recording career as she worked on a new album.
This week, the WWE announced that Garcia will be returning to full-time ring announcing as she will be replacing veteran Tony Chimel as the full-time announcer for Smackdown .
From ProWrestling.com:
"WWE brought Lilian Garcia back to the organization to permanently replace Tony Chimel as the ring announcer for weekly Smackdown tapings. Chimel, 50, will continue working for WWE at television tapings in the production office backstage. Company officials asked Garcia late last week if she wanted to return and a deal was reached Monday upon her arrival in Tampa, Florida.
"
I, for one, am excited that Lilian Garcia is coming back to the WWE as the full-time announcer for Smackdown while Tony Chimel is moving to more of a backstage role for the WWE production team.
Garcia is a great addition to Justin Roberts, who announces for RAW, as both of them announce with a great fire instead of the plain and simple delivery like the aforementioned Chimel and Howard Finkel, who have both had a pretty standard delivery in their time with WWE.
Garcia was the lead announcer for the WWE from 1999 until 2009 in addition to be involved with different angles with the likes of Jeff Jarrett, the Kat and even former fellow ring announcer Howard Finkel.
