WWE News: With Lilian Garcia Back in the Saddle, a Look at Her Greatest Moments
The news broke on Tuesday that Lillian Garcia would be returning to the WWE full time as a SmackDown announcer. The return coincides with the release of her newest music video "U Drive Me Loca" as the WWE reached out to the multi-faceted talent with current SmackDown announcer Tony Chimel set to take a production role backstage.
For years Garcia was a staple on RAW as an announcer, often integrated in various storylines with WWE talent ranging from Howard Finkel to Stone Cold Steve Austin. While it was somewhat rare for the WWE to feature its announcers in so many storylines, Garcia was at the heart of some of the more unforgettable WWE angles at the tail-end of the attitude era.
Garcia enjoyed a very lengthy and action-packed career with the WWE, and her return to the company provides opportunity for many more memorable moments for what has been an unlikely highlight reel.
Big Viscera Proposes to Lillian Garcia
1 of 7With the artist formerly known as Mabel adopting a gimmick as a super-sized Lothario, Viscera wasted little time in setting his sights on the WWE's radiant ring announcer as he began courting Lillian Garcia.
Garcia eventually warmed up to Viscera's advances, but Viscera would soon show his true colors when he abandoned his love interest in favor of select women from the Godfathers' ho train.
Viscera attempted to make it up to Garcia by proposing to Garcia, but before she could say yes the two were interrupted by former WWE manager Armando Alejandro Estrada, whose unexpected surge in popularity would eventually contribute to his own demise.
Lillian Garcia Sings "America the Beautiful" with Steve Austin
2 of 7On a special Memorial Day episode of RAW, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin took it upon himself to serenade the WWE Universe with "America the Beautiful."
With Austin fully aware of his limitations vocally, Austin invited Lillian Garcia to the ring to accompany him in song as the two showered the 'Redneck Riviera' with a duet of the patriotic ballad.
Lillian Garcia Gets Attacked by Three Minute Warning
3 of 7Time was, man-on-woman violence in the WWE was as commonplace as it was heat-seeking and even ratings-baiting. During one particular episode of RAW, heinous GM Eric Bischoff garnered immense heat with an orchestrated attack on Lillian Garcia.
With Howard Finkel being portrayed as an embittered former WWE announcer who was none-too-pleased about being replaced by Garcia, the Fink competed in an "announce-off" of sorts before cutting a promo on Garcia for purposes of entertaining Bischoff.
Once Bischoff decided he had seen enough, he beckoned for his two-man wrecking crew to lay waste to both Garcia and Finkel. Ever the gentleman, Fink insisted on somewhat of a 'ladies first' policy when he shoved Garcia into the fray before hastily exiting the ring.
Charlie Haas Knocks Lillian Garcia off Apron
4 of 7In an inadvertently comedic moment, former WWE wallpaper Charlie Haas accidentally knocked Lillian Garcia off of the ring apron while running ropes in preparation for a match.
Garcia was heard screaming in agony following the scary bump, but no real damage was found to have been done.
The WWE went on to turn the incident into a brief angle between Haas and Garcia on RAW.
Vince McMahon Demands He Be Announced Properly
5 of 7Leading into WrestleMania X-Seven, Vince McMahon did everything in his power to come off as the most dastardly heel in company history while celebrating a historic victory in the Monday Night Wars.
Amidst the array of misogynistic behavior, McMahon demanded a proper announcement from Lillian Garcia after feeling he was not given a suitable amount of fanfare upon making his way out to the ring.
McMahon went so far as to make his way back up the ramp before making a re-entrance accompanied by a more proper announcement from Garcia.
Garcia Sings the National Anthem the Day After the U.S. Captures Bin Laden
6 of 7An episode of RAW that billed the return of the Rock in his hometown of Miami, Florida was made much more special as just hours before the United States had "caught and compromised" one of the most notorious and sought-after fugitive terrorists in American history.
Garcia was called upon to do the honors as she kicked off a very special RAW with the National Anthem, commemorating a historic accomplishment by the United States Armed forces lead by President Barack Obama.
Lillian Garcia and the People's Strudel
7 of 7The Rock seduced Lillian Garcia like only he could during a backstage interview segment on SmackDown. The segment gave birth to the term "Strudel" as the Rock entered into a self-indulging promo that strongly suggested Garcia was interested in trying some of the Rock's strudel.
These sentiments were confirmed once Garcia responded affirmatively to inquiries of wanting the Rock's strudel before the Rock cut her off and comically insisted that Garcia demonstrate professionalism.
