Luis Suarez's Image Takes Turn for Worse as Red's Obscene Gesture Investigated

Gabe ZaldivarDec 6, 2011

How the well-respected and beloved have fallen. Luis Suarez has been a gem find for Liverpool and now is relegated to a problem child for manager Kenny Dalglish to deal with.

There are two things that need to be taken on the road for traveling football stars, their talents and a thick skin. Suarez managed to leave the latter at Anfield recently when he and Liverpool visited Craven Cottage to take on Fulham

The Daily Mail reports star Liverpool forward Suarez responded to fans by flipping them the bird in the final moments of the match. This was a response to the constant ripping from the fans as they bellowed "cheat" upon him.

The picture, first provided by The Daily Mail, can be seen here. As the report states, this is only the second stain that Suarez is wearing at the moment.

Suarez has already been charged by the FA for making racist remarks towards Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. Now he has a new investigation as the FA is set to open a case to look at the obscene gesture thrown at fans.

Boss Kenny Dalglish had this to say about the brouhaha.

"

I haven't seen the picture and I'm not taking anybody's word for it. If you show me the picture and I'm convinced that what you're saying is true, then I've got a decision to make.

"

Now as far as Suarez being labeled a cheat by the Craven Cottage faithful, Dalglish issued this.

"That's scandalous. We'll look after Luis as best we can, and I think it's about time he got a bit of protection from some people."

After seeing the photo, I am sure Dalglish will error on the side of caution and sit his star for as long as it takes to make the point.

Fulham is no doubt one of the more spirited crowds in the EPL. They have taken exception to a multitude of players for flopping and see Suarez as something of a master of the act.

Let's say that they did offer the word "cheat" to Suarez for 90 minutes. It is hardly the kind of thing that should have a professional boil over.

There is only one thing that should be on his mind and that is getting the result. The fact that Liverpool lost the three points there must have been salt in the wound, but still doesn't make the act acceptable.

Really, Suarez needs to grow up.
