Alabama Football: More Good News as 'Bama Lands Tight End Kurt Freitag

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer): Just in case you missed the article where I outlined some targets that Nick Saban and company were still pursuing (read it here), it seems the good news for Alabama keeps rolling in as they got the commitment from Kurt Freitag, the tight end they've wanted so badly according to Scout.com.

Freitag is a 6'4'', 250 pound soft-handed target, who can also block like a bulldozer. He is from Buford, Georgia, and is a senior at Buford High School.

With the departure of so many tight ends in the very near future, landing Freitag was a priority for Saban—and he landed the big tight end in a contest that came down to Alabama and Florida.

It didn't hurt that one of nation's best inside linebackers, Dillon Lee, is a friend and teammate at Buford who has already committed to the Tide. The two will finish their school careers together now at Alabama.

This duo helped Buford win the Georgia state playoff game this past Friday night over Columbus Carver, 28-13. Dillon had many highlight tackles, and Freitag also had his highlight moments with two very acrobatic diving catches to keep drives alive.

He is very fast and athletic for a big man, and can make those acrobatic catches like the best wide receivers.

He's a devastating run blocker, and also plays some defensive end.

His coaches brag about how disciplined he is when running his routes, and about the maturity level he brings to the field in practice and on game day.

He could be an SEC-ready freshman and early contributor at Alabama.

Nabbing Freitag just gets this class one step closer to signing yet another top overall class.

With more big names coming closer to signing, this is almost certain to become a class that could possibly be one of the best Saban has signed since coming to Alabama.
