BCS Bowl Predictions: Why the Alamo Bowl Will Be One of the Most Exciting Games

During BCS bowl games, most fans just want to see good, hard-fought games.

During the 132 other bowls, however, you want to see exciting, high-scoring games. If you're going to be watching a bunch of teams that have very questionable resumes, you at least want them to make things interesting and watchable. 

Fortunately, plenty of these teams have not-so-good defenses. And that turns games into fun shootouts. 

That will be just the case especially during the Alamo Bowl.

Currently, Stanford and Oregon and projected to BCS bowl bids. Oregon has clinched the Rose Bowl and Stanford is the highest ranked at-large team.

I don't see any way the Pac-12 doesn't get two schools in BCS games.

With USC on probation, that leaves Washington as the first pick for the Alamo Bowl, which gets the first non-BCS Pac-12 school. 

Another possible choice for this spot would be Arizona State, but UW seems to be the consensus pick.

As far as the Huskies' opponent goes, that will probably come down to Oklahoma or Baylor. 

Kansas State is another option, but the Wildcats will likely get a BCS bid or the Cotton Bowl. 

The Alamo Bowl gets the Big-12's second team after the BCS bids, so assuming KSU gets a BCS bid, that would mean Oklahoma or Baylor. 

Baylor may have the better resume and is playing better at the moment, but I have a feeling the Cotton Bowl will choose Oklahoma and its storied tradition over the Bears.

That pushes BU back to the Alamo, and that's not a bad thing.

Washington's pass defense is poor at best, and Robert Griffin III will have a field day playing in his home state. 

On the other side of the ball, Washington has some dangerous weapons in Keith Price, Chris Polk and Kasen Williams. Baylor has been better on the defensive side of the ball as of late, but it has been known to give up some yards and points.

All-in-all, you'll have two terrific offenses going up against two mediocre defenses.

Hey, in a bowl that hardly matters, that's exactly what I want to see.
