BCS Rankings: Oklahoma State Prove They Must Play for National Championship
The Oklahoma State Cowboys proved to everyone last night that they are the second best team in the nation and deserve to play LSU in the BCS Championship Game.
After they destroyed their biggest rival and the No. 10 team in the BCS rankings (the Oklahoma Sooners), it became clear that the Pokes need to play for the national title.
44-10 was the final score of the signature win the Pokes needed to cap their season off to take the highly competitive Big 12.
As champions of the second strongest conference in football, it would be stupid for Oklahoma State not to play the champions of the so-called strongest, the SEC.
Why should Alabama get a chance to rematch LSU when they already lost and didn’t even play in the SEC title game? They haven’t done enough to earn it.
The computers actually might get this right and should have the Pokes ranked No. 2, so now it’s up to voters to pick the right team to play LSU.
They just got a refresher last night that the choice is obviously the Bedlam winner.
Coach Mike Gundy also said so himself:
"He proclaimed on the field that "there's no question Oklahoma State should be No. 2 right now."
"The honest answer is we didn't deserve it. We do now," Gundy said. "And if we'd have won this game 17-14, I don't know if I'd have said it...When you win by 34 points, we deserve the right."
"
The right he is talking about is playing in the national championship game. And he’s absolutely right: his Cowboys are the team most deserving of the No. 2 ranking tonight and should be given the chance to play LSU.
