Fiesta Bowl 2012: Oklahoma St. vs. Stanford Could Be the Most Exciting BCS Bowl

If the LSU-Alabama rematch falls into place like many are expecting, that would leave Oklahoma St. and Stanford in a Fiesta Bowl matchup that would promise to offer some high-flying action.

These two teams are likely to be ranked No. 3 and No. 4 when the standings are released tonight and are clearly two of the best teams in the country. 

With that being said, the talent and star power this game will bring makes it the most intriguing of all the BCS bowl games. 

Oklahoma St. boosts perhaps the best offense in the country, averaging over 49 points a game, while Stanford counters with quarterback Andrew Luck, who is the best player in the country, as well as a top five offense that averages over 43 points a game. 

To say this game would be a shootout might be an understatement. 

The Oklahoma St. defense is not afraid to give up yards in big chunks, but they do force more turnovers than anybody in the country. 

Watching quarterback Andrew Luck try to pick apart the Cowboys secondary without turning the ball over would be the key to the game. 

Oklahoma St. likes to get pressure on the quarterback and Luck would have to know how to handle that pressure without turning the ball over. 

When Oklahoma St. has the ball, look out for 28-year old quarterback Brandon Weeden. Weeden was in the Heisman race earlier in the season, before a disappointing loss to Iowa St. ruined those hopes. 

He has passed for over 4,300 yards and 34 touchdowns. He has thrown 12 interceptions, but has gotten great protection from his offensive line.

Stanford will have to get pressure on Weeden to help get Oklahoma St. out of their element and force Weeden into turnovers.

No matter how many turnovers each team commits, this game has all the makings to not only be the most exciting BCS game, but also the most exciting bowl game of them all.
